What would you do if your Father lied about your Mother’s death and was also a murderer? In the book, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In Night-Time by Mark Haddon, Christopher finds out the most unbelievable secrets he would ever know in his life. Because of this incident, Christopher decides to make the big decision. Below are a series of Gifs that would help explain what happens.
“I just thought…I just thought it was better if you didn’t know…that…that…I didn’t mean…I was going to show them to you when you were older” (Haddon114).
The first Gif is showing Christopher was really shocked and confused when he found out his Father has hid the letters his Mother had wrote to him and told him, she died because of a heart attack when she was actually still alive.
“I killed Wellington, Christopher” (120).
The second Gif represents the fear Christopher has for his Father, he not only lied about his Mother’s death, he also killed Mrs. Shear’s Dog, Wellington, just because Mrs.Shears didn’t want to have a relationship with him. Christopher was even wrote a book about finding the mysterious killer, he could not believe his Father was the killer of the case he was trying to solve. Christopher was afraid, he was scared his dad would also kill him.
“…I had to go to London to live with my Mother” (131).
The third Gif represents Christopher not feeling safe so decides to go to London to find his Mother. Christopher stole his Father’s credit card in order to pay for the train tickets to London. Swindon to London was far, he almost gave up in many situations, especially the fact there were many people in the train and he hated being touched. But to not see his Father, the only place he could go was his Mother’s place.
“Christopher, Christopher, Christopher” (191).
The fourth Gif happens when Christopher finally met his Mother, his Mother tried to hug him but he did not like being touched so they used the finger to finger way. Christopher explains why he never replied to any of the letters and why he came. Haddon writes, “I’m going to live with you because Father killed Wellington with a garden fork and I’m frightened of him” (192). Christopher decides to live with his Mother and Mr. Shears because he thinks of his Father as a murderer.
