Passionate project summative

For the last couple weeks, I finished my bearded dragon informative video.

Last week, I went to my brother’s class(Grade 1) to present the video and talk through the kids about taking care of the turtles.

They enjoyed it and asked many questions. I hope I can do more series of animal’s videos in the future.

All of my bearded dragon is growing really healthy and strong, some of them will be ready to breed in next year.

Passionate project was fun, thank you Ms.Lemely!

Passion project Nov 28th

For this week, I’d been paying more attention to my dragons.  I record the data of the dragon. Some of the dragons are growing tremendously fast. Two of them are almost 30cm in the length. That’s almost an adult.

I’m also working on my videos, I’ve been adding videos clips into my iMovie and I think I will be able to finish the iMovie by next week.

Passion Project Nov 20th

Last week I went to my brother’s classroom to see their turtle.

There were two turtles, one was Chrysemys I believe and another one is a yellow spotted river turtle. The river turtle seems really sick and hardly move, I touched the water, and it’s really cold. Yellow spotted river turtle lives in amazon’s warm water area, and it will probably die in the cold water. I asked the teacher and brought it back to my house. I put a few drop of medicines on it’s dry back and put it in a warm water tank, after this four days, it is energetic and lively.

For this week, I fed the dragon normally, my dad sometimes complains about that the reptile room is little bit smelly so in the weekends my mom bought them a huge roll of bedding paper, I cleaned all the cages and put the bedding on, and now they look fancy and clean, good environment for them.

For this couple days, I’ve been filming how to prepare food for bearded dragon and feeding scene. I am going to film more stuff such as the introduction to the species.

Because of the parent teacher conference, I had four days break, and in this four days, I went to a pet shop inside the flower market. The pet shop manager and I are friends, he told me some more informations about bearded dragon and gave me some suggestion. I realize that though my bearded dragon did got feed every day or 5 times a week, but I was feeding them small size dubia and crickets, and to the size of 16cm to 25cm, eating medium sizes dubia will have much more nutrition and the bearded dragon will grow even faster combined with calcium powder.

All the bigger bearded dragon seems have strong interest to those food。

For the planing on the filming project, I think the video will follow by this order.

Intro

Describe the species

Genetic and coloration

How to choose a healthy bearded dragon

Feeding

Other

Go to a pet shop and record some videos

Breeding

Hatching

overall conclusion

In the October break last week, I went to Suzhou, Hangzhou and Hangzhou with my family. The trip took around 6 days but luckily none of my animals was sick.

I record the data again in the weekends, they still seems growing, but slowed down a little bit.

After seeing this calendar thing, I can think of that for this week, I can think of the final project I can do, maybe a video, or a little informative book thing, and for the next few weeks, I can process the decision.

Passionate project Week 5

This week, I did more on researching the bearded dragon incubating. I track data and see how does they grew, amazingly, they grew much faster after I separated them, for experiment, I still put a couple of them together, and a couple of them separated. One of the seperate dragon grew 2 centimeter in last 2 week, and the one who still live with others, barely grew.

I interviewed a person on Wechat this weekend. in Chinese. He is the leader of                               FM Dragon, the first bach of people who kept and import bearded dragon in China. He has been breeding Bearded dragon for so many years and he breed lot’s of good quality dragon, I personally even have one female dragon from his group.

Since he is really busy, so the conversation went really short and I just asked him a few questions. He told me that the future market in China of bearded dragon doesn’t look for quantity, it only looks at quality. Maybe he breed too many good quality dragon as he said so, but I still think that the beginners of reptiles will keep focus on the normal bearded dragon that’s not too expensive. So it depends.

The first two are two dragons who live in a separate cage, and the third one is one of the not separated one, I really can see the difference between the growth rate.
