Powerful, Ruthless, Evil. Theseus, the ruler of Athens, is a man you would not want to mess with. When watching a different version of “A Midsummer night’s dream” Theseus is the character that caught my eye. Within the original play, Theseus didn’t have many interesting traits, the movie changed that. In the “A Midsummer night’s dream’ movie, Theseus was a cruel and powerful leader, he didn’t give Hermia a chance to become a nun, but only gave her the choice of death. Furthermore, Theseus treated the leader of the Amazons, Hippolyta, as a trophy rather than a lover. Overall, I think Theseus’s change in the movie made him a very interesting character to look furtherĀ into.
