Riptide Final Reflection

For this Ignite week project, I choose  Creativity (L21) area because Riptide wasn’t described thoroughly enough to make an exact copy of it so you had to imagine how it looked. I thought I grew in this area because I actually created a pretty good sword from imagination, even though it isn’t finished. Most of my classmates complimented how cool it was. One example of how I used creativity was when I had to create the grip. Even though the grip isn’t finished yet I created a crossing design. What I did was wrapping 2 strip of leather around my sword while intersecting them together when they meet forming an X.

I enjoyed learning how to use creativity this week. I think that this skill will benefit me in the future because creativity challenges the mind to go further than anybody else. With creativity you could start a trend or something popular that would go down in history. Overall, this Ignite week helped me grow because it challenged me emotionally and my imagination. Creating a specific sword with only knowing which category the sword is from and knowing how long it is, took a lot of imagining to create finer details on the sword. It is also my first time creating a foam sword so I had to change my plans everyday and it really took away a lot of time of working from the week. Something that I took away for work shop skills is that you cant rush your final product. You probably would make a permanent mistake if you rush

Develop and plan

I created and sketched out the designs and shapes of the sword. Additionally, I created the sketch to scale and created some cross guard designs. At the end of the day I scheduled each part of the sword into separate blocks each on my calendar.

The Floorboard Sword? Make it Define and Inquire

Welcome back to The Late Late show with DAVID GUODEN! My current project for ignite week is to make a sword from the Percy Jackson universe. Today I’m guessing I would focus on making a blue print of my sword. Basically the plan of how I make the sword and the dimensions of my piece. The double edge one-handed greek sword I make is called Riptide and it belongs to Percy Jackson son of Poseidon. Riptide was a gift from Percy’s father when he discovered the greek mythical world. The only challenge if making my sword is that I have a broken arm and it would be tough to cut and draw in wood for me.

David’s CALENDAR!

For Oneday my project was to find something that shows positivity and put it on a calendar. However, I had no plan when making my calendar. I really didn’t need one. My idea was simple take some pictures and make a calendar out of them. It was really easy and I already had some ideas of what pictures I should take. I only met 2 challenges which was to get Canva to work and get 2 people to help join me in a scene. Canva is a website which you could design posters, ads, and things of the such. However, it wasn’t working for me and I couldn’t log in. I had to try all types of internet backdoors to get in. The other problem was to get people to do something for a scene. Nobody wanted to do that and I almost bribed someone to help me. Thankfully a few friends of mine I found helped me with a titanic scene. Other than that my calendar making journey ran very smoothly. Designing to calendar and picking out the photos were very easy too.

2K18 Consume Reflection

What is the relationship between consumption and sustainability?

Consumption, when you shop around the grocery or the mall you either buy something that’s sustainable or something that’s unsustainable. Sustainability means that one could maintain a life style forever without interfering our future generations ability to access the resources one uses to act the lifestyle out. To make sure the lifestyle could be maintain forever you have to view in the perspective of all 3 pillars of sustainability environment, society, and economy. You have to balance all 3 pillars in order to make your lifestyle sustainable. Let’s say that you buy 15 bananas every day. You have to make sure it doesn’t unbalance the 3 pillars. In this case  your life style won’t harm the forest near your town, your lifestyle doesn’t cost too much, and your lifestyle doesn’t affect the people near you(if they hate the smell of bananas). Unsustainability is the opposite of this, it topples the delicate balance of the 3 pillars and you wouldn’t be able to maintain it forever and you will affect the ability the future from getting this recourse your using. In order to delay our expending doom what you can do is don’t buy too much(there is always an hidden cost in buying an item. A few examples are Child labor, Low wages to workers, dangerous working conditions, and lack of management to waste from factories), don’t waste the thing you buy(water, Toilet paper, paper, Ext.), buy from companies or farms working on being sustainable, and also don’t use plastic. PLASTIC IS NEVER SUSTAINIBLE. JUST say NO! If your best friend offers you some-and trust me they always say the same thing -“Bro, try some. It’s going to be the biggest high of your life.” JUST say no!

          Reflection for Exhibition

In the exhibition only one person came to see my fabulous video and It was a person named Devon. It was basically half demon half devil. It said that it was good and people would get my idea about consumption with sustainability and the costs of unsustainability. However it said my audio wasn’t so clear. Next time I would slow down my when I record so I could make myself more clear and elaborate more on the topics im talking about.

The Relation Between Consumption and Sustainability and What You Can Do

Like I said, you either buy a sustainable item or something that isn’t sustainable. Most of the things we buy aren’t sustainable. In fact everything  is unsustainable, no matter what we do  we will one day all use all the recourses in our world or die off in the far away future. However we have to delay the horrifying darkness of our impending doom. Since a lot of things we buy are unsustainable the easiest thing to do is solve that problem. Make sure your product  or choices doesn’t harm the environment, the community, and the economy. You have to think about the whole life of the product. The extraction of recourses used in the product, how its produced in the factory, how it was distributed, and how its disposed of. Make sure at every step, the companies are trying their best not to disrupt sustainability. When you buy you have to see the hidden costs in it. Did the company use child labor? Do they give low wages? Does the factory have any management in the way they letting out their waste? Do their workers work in harsh and dangerous conditions? These are all questions to think about when you buy an item.

What you can do to delay our impending doom is to buy from sustainable companies and  spread the word. Do some research about sustainable companies and sustainable farms. Try to find them near you and buy your items from there. You should also spread the word. Tell everybody about sustainability, tell them about our impending doom.

I WILL PUT VIDEO DOWN HERE LATER. MY COMPUTER IS ICT SO I DON’T HAVE VIDEO ON ME RIGHT NOW! I WILL POST IT ON THIS POST NEXT WEEK. BYE!!!!!!!!!!

Ignite Week Reflect and Exhibit IronChef-Friday

So today we used to ingredients we prepared yesterday and created our food. We Added garnish and waited for the judges to taste it. In the end we got Second PLACE!!!! In the exhibition a lot of people ate both our pasta and fritters-until we had none left.

Looking bucket the project, I realized my team and I had no arguments. Thats a First. We worked together really well, even though we almost have no cooking experience(unless we are talking about insta noodles, cereal, and scrambled eggs. But thats beside the point). While finding a good recipe I picked up many new skills for example proper cutting techniques(note Its plural, meaning more than one), now to flip food while doing shallow frying, how to shallow fry, how to mince garlic, ext. In the future these skills can really help me out. I really didn’t have any challenges except for making good looking fritter. We got lots of help from Ms.Falco and Chef Rob.

Ignite Week IronChef Define and Inquire-Tuesday

So today I made some fritters. We got this recipe from 5-Ingredient Butternut Squash Fritters |

We learned many things while making the fritters, such as how to flip the fritters or what is shallow frying.

  On website      In real life

It actually tasted pretty good  It wasn’t as bad as it looks,  It actually tasted really good, But we have to improve its looks.

But nothing is perfect so we decided on what we liked and what we disliked.

Like:

Crunchy texture

Soft Center

Dislike:

Someplace are a bit burned

Bad shape

Uneven thickness

(Fritters that are too thin taste really burned and salty)

Not enough Garlic

Add some Green Onions

What we disliked will be used to edit our recipe. Tomorrow we are going to make the fritters with the new Recipe.

Ignite Week Create and improve 2019-2018

Today we didn’t do much but prepare for the big day TOMORROW.

We cut the onions, squash, bacon, garlic, ext.

We also prepared the seasoning-what i mean by preparing is calculating how much we need and getting it out.

But this is what we already created and decided to improve.

Smoothie:

Bake Squash and blend it more to make it less chunky

Fritters:

Add Garlic

Add Green Onion

Better shape

Consistent thickness

Not Burned(no exposure to roasts)

Pasta:

Add more cilantro

Smaller cut Squash

Ignite week 2018-2019 IronChef Wednesday

So basically, today I recreated the MARK 2 of the butternut squash fritter. But first I created the Butternut squash pasta. I learned that MSG is a chemical that makes things very salty, pun intended. I also learned that your should never ever roast cilantro. I also learned how to shape the fritters into circles. You basically scoop the mixture of squash, so it should look like a ball. Than you put it on the pan and put pressure on it. It would than spread the mixture into a circle. This is what i learned today. I also learned how to design my plate. basically there are 2 types of plates. Round and Long. With long plates your suppose to spread the food out. With round plates you are suppose to design it by building up.

The edited Fritters didn’t taste so different from the non edited. But we manage to learn how to make the fritters into a proper circle. We tried out the smoothie recipe audit sucked. It tasted to natural. Next time we should cook the squash than blend it.
