- Connect with the conflict. Write a text-to-self response in which you connect with the protagonist’s struggle to overcome one of the conflicts listed in the definitions above. Who or what is the main character struggling against? Ask yourself if you’ve also struggled in the same way. Your first paragraph must explore one type of conflict in your independent novel and provide MLA formatted quotesto show your understanding of the type of conflict. Your second paragraph should be a much longer paragraph, in which you describe your own struggle to overcome the same type of conflict that the protagonist struggles to overcome. Include specific examples from your own life.
- My book’s name is The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury. I think one of the conflict for this book is “man vs self”. Because the main character in the story is the smoke in the lamp. Her job is to let human find her and make 3 wishes and she will help them to make the wish come true, the smoke in the lamp didn’t have any felling or any emotion, she didn’t know what happy feel like she didn’t know what angry feel like. She didn’t know what love fell like because she has never fell in love before, and it is 99% impossible to let a smoke in the lamp fell in love with a human, but she did. Fell in love with a human is like illegal in the “smoke in the lamp world”. When the king of jinn (a country) offers Zahra (the smoke in the lamp) a chance to be free of her lamp forever. she says no and the only reasons she rejects the king of jinn is because she wants to help Aladdin (the person Zahra love). I think the main conflict for this book is that: is Zahra must decide is winning her freedom worth losing her heart.
