Of Nightingales That Weep by Katherine Paterson

This book is about a girl that was a samurai’s daughter who has a special talent for singing and playing the koto, a japanese instrument in the middle of a war, Genji against Heiki.

Takiko is a spunky girl that likes to play the koto. She becomes a lady in waiting to prince Aoi when her country is tossed into war.

My connection to this is that I am going to Japan on spring break with Akari.
