My Catchall

In Design Tech I created a catchall.

One piece of advice I would give a future student doing this project is to always make extras of pieces because I only needed 5 pieces of wood so I cut 5 pieces of wood, but 3 ended up cracking. What I’m trying to say is always make backups.

If I did this again, one thing I would do differently is I would make my design more complicated, because I made a box, just a box. I personally think if I had made it more complex I would use the catchall more.

Skills that I learned or developed were learning how to use wood glue, sawing wood,  and sandpapering,. Since I used all these skills I improved my woodworking abilities.

The Hunger Games, The Mocking Jay

The Capital is the owner of 12 districts there use to be 13 but the Capital blew it up. Katness  lives in district 12 she, her mom and her sister are very poor. district 12 is known for mining and coal. Her mom use to be very wealthy, then she got married. Katness’s dad got blown up in a mine. When that happened her mom went into a depressed stage.  It was hard for them to get food, but Katness knew how to hunt. She was afraid to go into they woods were she once had hunted with her dad. She slowly got further and further into the woods. Even with Katness hunting it was hard for the family to stay well fed. When you are 12 years old your name gets put into a bowl when you  r 13 your name is in the bowl twice, and so on. Katness was waiting for March 4 when she could enter name. You probably are asking why any body would enter there name for the hunger games, well if you enter your name you get oil, grain and rice for one person that could last a year. now Katness is 16 and her name is in the bowl 21 times. Reaping day is were one girl and one boys name is chosen from the bowl in every district, so that would be 24 kids. Katness is worried that her name will be chosen and her friend Gale that has his name in the bowl 42. At the announcing of the reaping Effie (whom is from the Capital) “Prime Evergreen.” At first Katness thought “thank goddess.” But then she realizes that that is her sister Prime Evergreen.

Prime is a sweet 12 year old girl that is always happy. She is a very pretty little girl. she is so kind that once Katness took her hunting every time Katness shot something Prime would say “if we hurry home we can probably still save it.”

This reminds me of The One and Only Ivan because it is sad and you worried for the character.

The Twits

Mr. and Mrs.Twit are the most gruesome people you have every seen. They are so horrid to each other. Once Mrs. Twit put worms in Mr. Twits spaghetti. Gross. They also put glue on a tree and birds wood sit on it and every night they would collect the birds and make bird pie with the feet still in. When Mrs. Twit was young she was very beautiful but when you start to think bad things you become more ugly. She became so ugly, unlike you and me. Mrs and Mr. Twit use to work in a circus but now they are retired. Mr. Twit has monkeys that stand up side down all day. They eat upside down,  drink upside down. He never thought that the blood would rush to there head and die but thankfully the monkeys did not die. The monkeys hated being upside down so when Mr. Twit wasn’t looking they went back on there feet.

Mr. Twit is a sixty year old man who thinks he is wise. He always has food stuck in his beard. His beard covers his hole face except his eyes, its even in his nose. His is mean and a nasty man because he was going to have boy pie inside of bird pie. The boys climbed the tree with the glue on it and they all got stuck up there.

This reminds me of a TV show I watch when I was little it was about a bird and a wolf. The bird out smarts the wolf.  I think this because in some part of the book a bird out smarts the Twits or the wolf as I said

The One and Only Ivan

Filed under: grade 5 — Poppy at 11:38 am on Thursday, October 27, 2016

Ivan is a silver back gorilla, he works for a circus. The circus is on exit 8. The circus is open 2, 4 and 7 365 days a year. Ivan’s best friend is Julia, she loves to draw ivan dose to but he eats his crayons when he wants to. He wonders why she dose’t eat her crayons. He has three best friends Stella, Julia and Bob. Stella is a old elephant, she used to work at a very big circus. One day she at the old circus she fell and heart her foot and then Mark bought her. Mark is the owner of the circus. Bob is a stray dog Julia name him that. Julia is a human she is great at drawing. Stella says that there is a new baby elephant that is coming to the circus. Ivan asks how she know stella says “I can smell he” . All he smells  is caramel popcorn.

Ivan is a silver back gorilla He loves to draw. When he was six Mark gave him a baseball bat for a preasent, Ivan broke his cage. Mark took the bat but let him keep the ball that came with it. Ivan has a stuffed animal named Not-Tag  he sleeps with her every night. He named her Not-Tag because that was his sisters name, his sister got separated from him when he was very little.

This book reminds me of BFG because its about a friendly character that is full of joy and happiness and the BFG and Ivan are both really funny
