Appetizer: Smoked Salmon Salad
Main Dish: Pomegranate Duck with Mashed Potatoes
Dessert: Lava Cake
Our team name is ‘The Best’, includes Stella Wu, Victoria Yin, and Alex Park. Our appetizer was the ‘Smoked Salmon Salad’. It is technically the smoked salmon shaped rose with vegetables. We chose it because it is easy to shape it. Our main dish was ‘Pomegranate Duck with Mashed Potatoes’. The highlight was the mashed potatoes, not the duct (in my opinion). It was western and looks pretty, and some parts were easy to cook, so we chose it. And our dessert was ‘Lava Cake’. It looks pretty, and it’s challenging, so we thought it would be good for us. It is a chocolate cake with melted chocolate inside. Another team also had lava cake, but ours tastes better (in my opinion). The mystery ingredient was leek and wasn’t a problem for us to use it. It was a great experience to cook, and work as a team, so I wish I can do this again next year. I learned that safety and team collaboration is the required. There were some challenges for us to face, such as forgetting salad sauce, cooking duck again and again, plating again. One thing I want ‘Top Chef” to change is to make non-related people to vote, so it’s more reliable. I think ‘One Day’ is important because it is a day that you can do what you want to do freely. I think we did our best, because we are ‘The Best’.
