Also 3AC will begin swimming soon, here is a message from the PE department:

Dear Parents:

It is now time for the other half of the UES to swim in PE from May 3- June 5. The classes involved and details on what to bring are listed below. Those classes not swimming will be involved in a Health and Fitness unit during their PE time.

Please read the following guidelines below so as to have your child ready to begin his or her swimming lessons:

BATHING SUITS:

Girls should wear a one-piece bathing suit. Boys may wear Speedos, trunks or knee length Lycra suits; however, it is not convenient to wear bathing suits that are below their knees. Please check the condition of your child’s suit. To ensure that the children do not forget their bathing suits for their swim lessons, all children will leave their suits hanging in a designated place at the pool. When they arrive for their next lesson, their suits will be there, dry and waiting for them. Please clearly write your child’s name on their bathing suit.

GOGGLES & CAPS:

Students can make do with basic, inexpensive goggles that are comfortable for them. Swimming Caps should be worn by all students with long hair as it makes swimming comfortable and is much more practical. At the very least, long hair should be tied back. Again, the students will leave their goggles here at the pool until the swimming unit is complete. Please clearly write your child’s name on the cap and goggles.

TOWELS:

Each class, a clean towel is provided for all students participating in swimming.

SICKNESS:

It is our belief in the PE department that if a child is attending school, then they are generally well enough to participate in all classes including Physical Education/Swimming. If your child is sick, please keep them at home. If they are well enough to be at school, then they are expected to participate.

This is a great opportunity for your child to receive professional and high quality instruction from qualified and experienced aquatic staff. Students will experience a safe and friendly environment that allows them to develop their confidence in a variety of aquatic activities. Support your child in this program. Swimming is a life skill!!

Allison
