ES Parent Coffee: Tuesday, November 20th in the Upper Dance Studio (Dome)

  • What: Come join the ES Leadership Team and learn about the differentiation and teaching strategies being used to accommodate and serve the range of children at ISB.

 

Message from Swimming: BABY DRAGONS SWIM PROGRAM: Our Baby Dragon Swim Program will begin on December 5th. This program is a bridge program for swimmers to extend beyond the ASA and start preparing to develop their strokes for competitive swimming. This program centers around FUNdamentals. We are inviting swimmers who are able to swim down the length of the pool (25m) in three different strokes; Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke. Although the technique at this stage does not need to be perfect, we need to consider safety and ensure that swimmers have the beginnings of these strokes and can manage to move down the pool in a practice setting.

On December 5th, from 2:30pm – 3:30pm, we will run an assessment to look at all potential Baby Dragons that are interested in the program. Some swimmers have already been chosen from ASA Session 1, so these swimmers will not be required to attend the assessment. Already identified Baby Dragons will start with a practice on December 5th while others continue to be assessed.

For any new swimmers that were not seen during ASA Session 1, please fill in the registration form and drop it off in the Swim Pool Mail Box before November 29th.

Chosen Baby Dragon’s will practice every Wednesday from 2:30PM – 3:30PM until we conclude with a final swim meet opportunity – The Baby & Little Dragon Invitational Meet, which takes place on Wednesday, May 22nd. Baby Dragons are not required to sign up with the ASA early years swimming program. Sign-ups are managed through the swim office.

Wednesday, December 5th Assessment – Parents will need to bring their children to this assessment at the pool. Our ASA program will be taking place at the same time, so coaches and teachers will be collecting those students. We will need parent help to bring swimmers to the pool on this first day.

Requirements before Baby Dragon practices begin:

  • All Baby Dragons should be competent to change on their own. Coaches or teachers will not be assisting swimmers in the change rooms to get changed. Please practice this at home. Parents will not be allowed in the change rooms.
  • Bring your own swim suit, cap and goggles. These will not be left at the pool and should be taken home after every practice.
  • We provide towels, so no need to bring your own.
  • 200RMB – This program carries a very small fee that covers a t-shirt, swim cap and allows these little ones to participate in a few swim meets from March until May. This fee will be collected after we decide on who will be in the program and fees are payable to the box office.

Although practices are on a Wednesday which is at the same time as our early years ASA. This program is different to the ASA program, and forms part of our bridge program for swimmers to extend beyond into more competitive stroke development.If you have any further questions you can send in an enquiry to the following:

Message from Activities Office: ASA Session 1 Make Up Week and ASA Session 2 Start
Session 1 of After School Activities (ASAs) concluded last week. The make up week for some missed Session 1 ASAs will take place this week (The week of November 19th). Please read through the list below to see which activities will take place this week (please note that not all Session 1 activities will have make-ups).
Registration for Session 2 of ASA closed this Monday. Parents will receive an email with their child’s confirmed activities by Friday, November 23, and Session 2 will start on Monday, November 26. If you have any questions about ASAs, please contact;

ES Afterschool Music Ensembles Information

ES Band.  Grade 4 and 5 students. We offer two levels of band, Band 1 is for beginners and Band 2 is for those students who have played a band instrument before. We offer flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, French horn, baritone tuba and percussion. Please be sure to attend instrument try-out and sales day. It is the day to choose your instrument, meet the teachers and sign up for the afternoon you will attend. Sessions start the week of September 3rd.

ES StringsGrade 3, 4 and 5 students. We offer four different levels of strings based on ability. Students involved in ensembles last year were automatically moved to the next level. IF you are new to ISB and play or would like to learn how to play a violin or cello this is your change. If you are new to strings plan to attend Saturdays instrument sales day. If you have your own instrument contact Ms. Campbell to register. Mozart, Vivaldi and Beginning 2 ensembles start the week of September 3rd.   Beg 1 ensemble starts the week of September 10th.

ES Choirs. Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 students. Junior Choir meets on Thursday starting September 6th. This choral group is for students in grades 2 and 3. Treblemakers meets Monday starting September 3rd. This group is for students in grades 4 and 5. Contact Ms. Campbell if you have not already registered.

SALES/TRY-OUT DAY   This Saturday September 1st is the instruments try-out and sales day. If you are interested in band you can come by and try out all the different instrument options available to you. If you are joining strings and you need to get a violin or rent a cello this is the time to do that.

UES Back to School Night (BTSN): Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 28th

Dear Families,

A reminder, that the Elementary School UES Back to School Night (BTSN) for Grade 3, Grade 4 and Grade 5, will be held tomorrow evening, Tuesday, August 28th, from 6:00pm – 8:30pm.

Please note, this event is for parents only. There is no child care provided.

Elementary School Back to School Night (BTSN)

Elementary School Back to School Night is just around the corner. Once again we will have two separate evenings, one designated for each section of the ISB Elementary School.

UES (Grade 3 – Grade 5) parents are invited to come learn more about the Elementary School program on Tuesday, August 28th, from 6:00pm – 8:30pm.

LES (PK3 – Grade 2) parents are invited to attend presentations about the Elementary School program on Thursday, September 6th, from 6:00pm – 8:30pm.

Below, please find an outline of scheduled events for both evenings and a link that can be used to print a hard copy of the flyer.

Elementary School Arrival Procedures

Dear Parents,

亲爱的家长们,

Please make note of the arrival procedures, listed below, for students in the Elementary School. We have included information for both outdoor and indoor mornings.

请了解以下小学学生的到校流程,包含室外集合和室内集合的相关信息。

Outdoor Mornings室外集合:

  • All scholars, from both buses and parent drop-off, should enter campus through the OLE gate.
  • 所有坐校车以及家长送的学生都应从小学操场大门入校。
  • Grade 1 – Grade 5: After entering the OLE children in should remain in the OLE until music plays. When the music plays, children should line-up by homeroom and wait for teachers to come and meet them.
  • 一年级—五年级:入校后在操场等待至音乐响起。音乐响起后,孩子们应以班为单位排队并等待班主任来接他们。
  • Kindergarten: Parents choosing to accompany their child must enter through the Main Entrance and drop them off at the courtyard.
  • 幼儿园:选择陪孩子一起入校的家长必须从主入口进入并把孩子送到小学庭院。
  • PK3/PK4: Parents choosing to accompany their children must enter through the Main Entrance and drop them off in their classroom.
  • 三岁班/四岁班: 选择陪孩子一起入校的家长必须从主入口进入并把孩子送到教室。
  • Any parent needing to accompany their child on campus must enter through the Main Entrance and remain with their child until they drop them off at class.

Indoor Mornings: 室内集合:

  • All children that are parent drop-off should enter through the OLE gate.
  • 所有由家长送的孩子应由操场大门入校。
  • All children that ride the bus should enter through the Main Entrance.
  • 所有坐校车的孩子应由主入口入校。
  • Grade 2 – Grade 5: Will be directed to the Dome.

  • Grade 1: Will be directed to the ES Cafeteria.

  • Kindergarten: Should go to their homeroom.

Please note that the OLE gate does not open until 8:00. Elementary School children on campus prior to 8:00 must be accompanied by a parent at all times.
