Keeping Healthy at School

Dear ES Parents, This is the time of year when many children are sick. We request that when your child is unwell, that they stay at home. This is advice from our nurses:

Please let us help each other to prevent illnesses/diseases at ISB. We believe that “prevention is better than cure” and we can do this by practicing proper hygiene all the time.

Please inform your child about good hand hygiene. Washing your hands should be done before and after preparing and eating food, after going to the bathroom, after cleaning something, before & after tending to someone who is sick, after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, after handling an animal or animal waste, and after handling garbage,

If your child has the following signs & symptoms, please keep your child at home and consider seeing a doctor for further evaluation if necessary:

  • Fever – Temperature above 37.5 C or higher. Children should be fever free (without taking any medications) for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Diarrhea & Vomiting – starting within 12 hours prior to the student going to school or persistent diarrhea.
  • Skin rashes of unknown origin.
  • Conjunctivitis/pink eye – watery or purulent discharges from the eye.
  • Moist cough if the child cannot be relied upon to cover their cough.
  • Heavy head cold with a lot of nasal congestion/sneezing.

These last two symptoms, even without fever, can cause a lot of other children to become ill if they attend school.
Many thanks for your support with keeping everyone healthy during these cold winter months.

ES Musical Upcoming Performances

At this festive time of year, the ES students who attend music activities after school, will be performing in places in and around Beijing. Even if your children are not in these groups, you might like to attend them. It’s a lovely opportunity to sing carols and see our students perform.

Lunch card top up 午餐卡充值

Dear ES Parents, 亲爱的小学家长们,

Please can you remember to go online to see your child’s balance with Sodexo, to pay for lunches at school. We have just realized that many of you have not been remembering to check about this, or perhaps you do not know how to. Many ES students have a negative balance of over ¥1000.

It is much easier to add money to your account this year, as Sodexo have arranged for you to be able to do this on WeChat. The PowerPoint below has the instructions for how to do this.

Please can you try to remember to check your child’s balance 2 or 3 times a month, and add money as necessary.

Below are 8 steps to register, add money and check your child’s balance.

Information for Day 1 on Monday

Dear ES Parents,

Are your children excited about school starting? Here we are all excited, the classrooms are ready and so are the teachers.

On Monday children should arrive between 8:00 and 8:10am. They should come in through the Elementary School entrance by the OLE, and go to the following places:

Grades 1-5 go to the OLE/playground

PreK3, PreK4 and Kinder students go directly to homerooms, they should be accompanied by a parent. IMPORTANT please note for the young students:

PreK3 and PreK4 students finish school at 11:25am for the first two weeks of school, then each Wednesday they go home early at 11:25am.

Kindergarten students for home at 11:30am for the first week of school. After that they stay at school until 3:25pm every day.

Enjoy your last days of the holiday and the time with your children. (We know there are some parents who are quite excited about handing their children back to us after a long summer!)
