This game-based unit will challenge students to create an ideal civilization in a randomly assigned location, while considering geographic and economic issues, and the historical precedent of the rise and fall of ancient civilizations. Students will also read dystopian fiction to analyze alternate society structures and participate in literature circles.
Students will work in groups to create a civilization complete with an economic plan, consider the type of citizens they need for success, and participate in a trade conference to forge alliances with other communities.
