ISAC Update, Weather, Seussification, and Principal’s Coffee

A few updates for the Middle School Community of students, parents, and staff members-

1) The ISAC volleyball exchanges planned for this weekend have all been postponed to December 5, due to the high likelihood of snow this weekend.  Stay home and stay safe!

2)  Snow is forecast in Beijing over the next few days, which could result in the school’s closure Monday depending on road and traffic conditions. We will monitor the situation closely and, in the event of a school closure, inform our families as early as possible by:

  • Posting messages on Dragons’ Gate and the school’s home page.
  • Sending an SMS alert to families.

Please check your family profile on Dragons’ Gate to ensure we have the correct mobile phone numbers on file for your family. While we understand the impact a school closure has on families, our priority is ensuring students’ safety.

3) A huge thank you to the Seussification cast and crew, as well as our supportive parent community!  The first show was a huge success!  The Friday 6:30 and Saturday 2:00 shows are currently still planned to go forward in spite of looming weather.  Both shows are sold out.  You can see the shows streamed live online here.

4) Next Wednesday at 8:30 in the MPR we will hold the MS Principal’s Coffee.  We plan to provide information about the optional ES Dual Language program, school security including lost and found procedures, recent successes with our standards-based grading systems, and how students can apply for next year’s exciting Middle School and High School Futures Academy programs.  We will also give parents an opportunity to ask questions on other topics.

High Regards,

Dr. Jon Hill

Middle School Principal
