Middle School Update

Dear Middle School Parents and Students-

It’s hard to believe that Quarter 1 is finished, but here we are! We have plenty happening to keep us busy.

Here are a few reminders:

  • We plan to send Quarter 1 Reports home late in the afternoon today, October 19.  They will come in waves, so do not be alarmed if you hear other parents received a report and you did not get yours yet.  Yours might just be sent a little later than others, or perhaps you can check your junk mail folder to see if the email went there by mistake.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on October 20 and 21.  Our teachers are eager to meet with you!
  • We will have Showcase Concerts in the Theater at 6:30 on October 26 and 27.  All parents and students are welcome to attend.  Come and enjoy an evening of music and support our music program!
  • Digital Age Parenting Talks – The new dates for this informative series will be October 25, November 1, November 8, and November 15.  The sessions will be in the Glass Box starting at 8:45 AM.

Futures Academy Enrollment
A few parents have recently asked about the enrollment process for Futures Academy for the 2017-2018 school year.  We will be providing more information on this in November, so please watch for details!

Middle School Students on Campus After School
I would also like to remind parents and students of our after-school policies related to Middle School.  Middle school students are welcome to stay on campus after school only if they have a supervised activity such as tutoring, Office Hours, ASAs, sports, clubs, etc.  Otherwise students should be going home after school.  If a supervised activity ends and a student needs to wait for a bus or other transportation, then the places for waiting are the MS/HS Library or the MS/HS Cafeteria.  This is a safety issue.  We need to know where to find students on campus after hours.  Parents who need to find a Middle School student here at school before 4:30 may call the MS Office (8149-2345 ext. 1084).  After 4:30, please call the main reception desk (8149-2345) or our security office (8149-2345 ext. 2001).  Homeroom teachers generally do not have the ability to locate students on campus after hours, so please use the contacts provided.

For other matters, please do not hesitate to contact our teachers, office staff, or administrators with your questions or concerns.  Thank you for choosing ISB!

Regards,
Dr. Jon Hill
ISB Middle School Principal
