This is a busy week with opportunities for you to engage in great conversations and celebrate the learning of our students!

Simply Solo Strings – 4pm TODAY, November 21, in the MPR.  Come and enjoy beautiful performances by some of our most talented student musicians!

Middle School Parent Coffee The next coffee will take place in the MPR this Wednesday, November 23 at 8:30AM.  Come and hear about personalized learning, the importance of improving mother-tongue fluency, Futures Academy, 21st century learning, and other topics of interest to parents.  We will talk Bring your questions for the Q&A at the end!

Futures Academy Enrollment Info for 2017-18.  On November 23, at 10:00am (just after the Parent Coffee) we have two information sessions planned:

  1. Current 6th grade parents are invited to the Futures Academy’s main space (above the MS/HS library).  This session is for any current Grade 6 parents wondering if their child should join the MS Futures Academy for the 2017-2018 school year.  Our Futures Academy facilitators will be available to answer questions and share highlights of the program.  The applications will be distributed after the session. Information about MS Futures Academy can also be found on Dragons’ Gate and our Website under the MS tab.
  2. Current 8th grade parents are encouraged to join a discussion about High School Futures Academy for Grade 9.  HS Principal David Munro will speak during the Middle School coffee and will continue with a Question and Answer session in the HS/MS Library space at 10:00 am where you can ask questions, talk to Ms. Dunning who is one of the High School Futures Academy facilitators, and meet some of the students in the High school program.  We look forward to meeting you this week and sharing our exciting new program.
Why and How is Assessment Changing? Join us on Thursday, November 24th in the MPR from 6:30 to 8:00pm to hear from Tom Schwimmer, an assessment expert and consultant working with ISB teachers this year, about changing thinking related to assessment in Middle and High School. Tom Schimmer is an independent education author, speaker, and consultant from Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada). He is recognized as a leader and expert in the areas of assessment for learning, sound grading practices and educational leadership. Be an ISB learner with us!
Once Upon a Hutong is coming! Our MS drama production is sure to be amazing on November 24-26. The Friday and Saturday shows are SOLD OUT!  We have just a few tickets left for the Thursday show.  Get your tickets online using a computer! Be sure to set the quantity to the correct number and update your cart. In the end, you should have a QR code with each person’s name who will attend. These can be brought on your phone or printed out.
