Happy New Year 2018! Flu Season…

Dear ISB Middle School Parents-

Happy 2018!  I hope your winter holidays provided great opportunities for spending time with family and I wish you a healthy and enriching 2018!

Great learning is already underway here at ISB in the new year.  Soon your children will hear about One Day, our annual day of independent, student-directed learning, coming up on Feb 13 with an exhibition on Feb 14.  We will also enjoy our annual Chinese New Year celebration on Feb 14, with the parade and other activities.

Come and hear Futures Public Radio, Community Media for Change: Parents are welcome to join FPR student journalists who will be sharing their experiences and feature pieces.
MPR; 9:00 am to 10:00 am, on January 16.

I’d also like to ask parents to mark your calendar for the next MS Parent Coffee, taking place in the MPR from 8:30 to 10:00AM on Feb 7.  We will be exploring the science of healthy sleep in adolescents, having some fun with design education, and more!

Finally, allow me to remind everyone that it is flu season!  Flu Season Reminders:

  • Wash your hands with soap regularly!
  • Stay hydrated and get plenty of sleep each night!
  • Check for fever if you are not feeling well!  Our nurse can check students’ temperature at school.  If students are at home and have a fever, they must not come to school!
  • Typical symptoms of Flu: High fever (above 38.3°C or 100°F), Chills, Headaches, Tiredness, Body aches

Hope you are enjoying the blue skies and doing your best to stay warm!

Dr. Jon Hill
ISB Middle School Principal
