Principal’s List for March 4

The following students have been impressing their teachers with demonstrations of our core values: Global Mindedness, Integrity, Respect, Balance, Service, and Creativity.  These students will get a special sticker in Mentoring class to put on their laptop cover.

Grade 6
Takumi Kamiya has been doing a fabulous job in Dragon Design.  His Book Buddy is amazing!
Aidan Wong did a great job representing Austria in the Disarmament Commission at DIMUN over the weekend. He prepared his speeches well, and made many successful contributions to the debate.
Tian Tian Ma is demonstrating some excellent leadership skills in Spanish. She demonstrated great communication and organisation skills in her group although she has recently joined us.
Larry Kong is willing to help others when needed or asked. He is taking ownership of his learning, by generating ideas of how to design in unique ways. His willingness to try new challenges motivates others to do the same. Thanks Larry!
Clarence Chan is always willing to put in the extra effort in our service club, iHelp.
Emily Barber demonstrates respect for others and is consistently engaged in class discussions. She works hard to turn in her best work, cooperates well in group activities and is always willing to reach out to her classmates.
Michelle Zhang continues to demonstrate respect and concern for others by helping her classmates to resolve differences constructively and working positively with others on projects and group activities. Keep up the great work, Michelle!
June Park is a positive influence in class, consistently trying his best and showing concern and respect for his classmates. June maintains a positive growth attitude and his attitude is appreciated in class!
 

Grade 7

Poppy Upite has consistently demonstrated a sense of integrity and leadership. She makes constructive suggestions to class and she always shows leadership when working with others. s
Annabel Tang did a fantastic job making connections and opening the minds of others during the last Socratic seminar in humanities!
SERVICE: Chloe Bao has worked hard in the service club iHELP by giving her time, both in during the club and outside during her spare time.
Oscar Zhou demonstrated Integrity and Respect as he strived to challenge himself and find ways to take his Chinese learning to an even higher level.
Stella Wu got really involved in the DIMUN conference over the weekend. She prepared thoroughly, and took frequent opportunities to contribute to debates and help her committee achieve its goals.
Alex Lee helped a fellow student who lost a key.  He retrieved and returned it to her after seeing it in the hall.  Well done, sir!
Sofia Rane is the consummate problem solver.  She always seeks to find common ground with others and include all perspectives.  She is able to bring people with different ideas together and move forward.
Kaylyn Park is very KIND and at the end of the last term, gave out notes in her Homeroom telling everyone how much they meant to her.
Cyrus Choi is always willing to put in the extra effort in our service club, iHelp.
Victoria Yin demonstrated an ISB Core Value of service since she spent her extra time to prepare the interview and dialogue with legendary Chinese film director Zhang Yimou on February 1. She did a good job on February 1.
Eric Ge played a violin accompaniment at the AMIS HS Honor Choirs Festival concert at the weekend.  This was challenging as he was playing alongside professional musicians in rehearsals and in the concert.  He managed to balance his time along with taking part in the MUN conference as well.
 

Grade 8

Jeff Chen is a wonderful collaborator in Chinese class. He openly listens to his peers and ensures that he is inclusive of his team members when working at group tasks. He models good behavior and responsibility.
Cherry Li demonstrates respect for others and is consistently engaged in Chinese class discussions. She works hard to turn in her best work, cooperates well in group activities.
Jeehyun Song did a great job at the DIMUN conference over the weekend. She showed Global Mindedness by representing the US very capably, and succeeded in getting her resolution passed.
TaekWon Kim took lots of opportunities to contribute to debates over the weekend at the DIMUN conference. He prepared well and represented Norway in the General Assembly very successfully.
Stella Kim demonstrates the core value of integrity every day. She is a diligent worker and does not lose focus even when concepts are challenging.  She continuously works to improve her skills and is always looking for ways to extend her learning.
Sophia Tang embodies the core value of creativity. Whether she is adding artwork to her assessment or she is writing an elaborate story, Sophia always tries to incorporate her artistic ideas into her work.
Linie Cha is a student with high integrity. She always strives for her best (classwork, homework assignments, group work and classroom discourse, etc…). She respects her peers and teachers. She takes advices from them sincerely and quickly turns them to her strengths.
Luisa Wang is always willing to put in the extra effort in our service club, iHelp.
Luisa Wang demonstrated the core value of service when she spent her lunchtime trying to raise money for animal shelter. She really impressed me with her commitment to this cause.
Jeehyun Song is a student with high integrity. She always strives for her best (classwork, homework assignments, group work and classroom discourse, etc…).  She takes advices from them sincerely and quickly turns them to her strengths.
Darren Zhu has really made great strides in becoming more balanced in his approach to his work. Great to see!
Tony Deng has demonstrated integrity and balance in his overall study habits by being open to feedback and keeping a growth mindset about his learning. He has already benefitted from diligent study by improving his skills a great deal, but still asks for advice in how to study effectively and makes adjustments even if they are counter to his current habits or dispositions. Way to have an open mindset, Tony!
During our Chinese food making class right after Chinese New Year, Anika Downie demonstrated the core value of service when she did an outstanding job of cleaning up for her team and helping the teacher clean up. Appreciated!
Oscar Hamada is a role model to his peers as he demonstrates the value of balance – he applies 100% effort to his work while pursuing his passion and interest. He has always been respectful to others.
Sofia Poulsen created an amazing GIF for to help advertise her Enrichment’s project! Thanks, Sofia, for all your time and energy in working on this!
Christina Ma is a student in Inkspill Enrichment. She took initiative and submitted her writing to Scholastic Art and Writing awards and received a Golden Key as well as an honorable mention for her efforts! Great job, Christina!
