Fantastic Opening Performance!

Congratulations to the Cast, Treblemakers and Mozart on a super first performance this afternoon. Their weeks of hard work paid off, as was reflected in the rapt faces of the audience, their laughter and applause.

However, we are not quite finished and it is extremely important that all cast members read through their lines at home this evening. Having someone read the lines between, will remind the children of their cues so that they know exactly what to say and also when.

It is also important that your child gets a good night’s sleep to ensure another energetic and entertaining performance tomorrow when the theatre opens its doors to family members and friends. The children are looking forward to welcoming you all and hoping for another appreciative response from audience members.

We are extremely grateful to you the parents for helping the children learn their lines, encouraging them when interest may have waned and ensuring that wherever possible they attended each and every rehearsal. Without your support, this production would not have been possible.

Important Reminders: (Tues 29 May Rehearsal 3:30 -6:00) (Fri 01 June Performance 4:00 – 5:30)

Dear Parents,

The children did a fantastic job yesterday! They worked tirelessly, as we slowly pieced the production together scene by scene. It was the first opportunity they’d had to work with the Treblemakers and Mozart strings, who sat patiently for much of the day and performed beautifully.

It was amazing to see this jig saw production put together for the very first time and for the children to experience being onstage, working with microphones and adapting to set and lighting changes for each scene.

Many parents came to collect tickets for the performance on Friday 1st June. However, there was a little confusion and some students also collected tickets for their families. Please check with your child to see if they collected tickets on your behalf. Should any families have more tickets than they need, we ask that you return them to the ES Office as soon as possible, to ensure that we have enough.

Thank you for ensuring that the children arrived on time and also for picking them up promptly.  The children and staff WoZ team are excited and looking forward to finally share our production with you this Friday 1st June!

  •  DRESS REHEARSAL: TUESDAY 29th MAY (3:30 – 6:00PM)  NOT open to parents
  • PERFORMANCE FAMILIES/COMMUNITY: FRIDAY 1st JUNE  (4:00 – 5:30PM) in the THEATRE

 There will also be a performance, but for ES STUDENTS ONLY, on the afternoon of Thursday 31st May during school hours.  This performance is NOT open to parents.

 TICKETS:                                                                                                              Complimentary tickets are available in the ES OFFICE from Monday 28th May to Friday 1st June. Only parents or adult members of the community are permitted to obtain tickets.

 PLEASE NOTE:

Those of you who wish to take photographs or record the production may do so but must select seats on the balcony. You will need to stand in the Balcony wings when taking photos or recording, to avoid disturbing the audience. (No flash photography!)

 A video of the production will also be posted on Dragon Tube and Vidigami – links to which will be posted on the BLOG after the final performance.

WIZARD OF OZ ALL-DAY REHEARSAL                                                                   SATURDAY 26th MAY, 2018 (9:00 -3:00pm)                                                                            ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND!

Dear Parents,

We would like to remind you that there will be a rehearsal for The Wizard of Oz this Saturday, 26th May 09:00 – 3:00PM

It is essential that all children involved in the production attend, if they are to participate in the final performances.

This will be the first of only 2 opportunities for a full-length rehearsal in the theatre with all performers, musicians and singers on-stage, together. This is a large-scale production and a huge team effort.  If a child is absent, it not only impacts his/her own performance but also that of the other cast members who depend on each other.

Please note that these are closed rehearsals; so family members and friends are not permitted to attend. For this, we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Please ensure that your child arrives in school between 08:30 and 08:50 at the latest, so that everyone is in the theatre, ready to start promptly at 09:00.

It is important that you, a driver or other adult pick up your child promptly at 3:00pm from the Main Entrance, unless indicated on the return slip that your child will return home unaccompanied. For the safety of all children, each child will need to check in with a teacher at the Main Entrance before leaving.

TICKETS:                                                                                                                          Families of cast members only, can obtain complimentary tickets on Saturday 26th May, (08:30 – 09:00AM and 2:30 – 3:00PM) from outside the theatre, for the performance on Friday, 1st June (4:00 – 5:30PM).  Complimentary tickets will also be available from the ES Office from Monday 28th May to Friday 1st June.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • All children will receive a Security Card with their name on tomorrow (Friday), which they must bring to the rehearsal on Saturday for security purposes. We will collect them from the children as they leave.
  • Please provide your child with a healthy snack and something to drink (no fizzy drinks, gum or candy please).
  • A complimentary pizza lunch + juice will be provided, or children can bring a packed lunch from home if they prefer. No food deliveries, please.
  • If your child would like to bring a book, homework or other quiet activity that’s fine. No electronic games, please.
  • Your child should continue to practice lines, if possible with an adult at home to ensure a confident and enjoyable performance.

WIZARD OF OZ TICKETS – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Parents of cast members, you will have the opportunity to get tickets for the performance IN ADVANCE on Saturday 26th May, when we have our all-day rehearsal. There is no payment for tickets as they are complimentary but please do not request more than you need.

*Please note that ES students may not attend the performance on Friday 1st June unless accompanied by an adult.

Please help your child to learn their lines……

Dear Parents,

Today the majority of cast members were able to enjoy wearing their costumes for the first time, as we rehearsed the first few scenes of Act 1 in the theatre, together with the dancers.

However, we are concerned that at today’s rehearsal several cast members, were very unsure of, or had forgotten, their lines and cues (knowing when to say their lines).

It is essential that all cast members continue to practice their lines every day.  If it’s possible for someone at home to read the lines of the other characters, this will help your child know when to say his/her lines. It will also ensure that all children feel confident when they perform and really enjoy the experience.

On Thursday we will rehearse Act 2 so the cast should focus on learning the lines for Scenes 6 – 10 in the meantime. Next week we will rehearse Acts 1 and 2 and by then expect all children to know their lines and cues thoroughly.

It is very important too that all cast members know the lyrics to “Somewhere, Over the Rainbow” and “Ding-Dong the Witch is Dead.”  I have copies of both these songs in my room (2141).

Volunteers needed to help organise lunch for rehearsal on Saturday 26th May

Dear Parents,
