Science Engineer Project # 1: Define and Inquire Copy

What is this engineering task?

: During this Science-Engineer Project, students are designing a device that converts energy, taking a renewable energy & converting it to electrical energy, and creating a device that can be used to teach. The point is that we need to express our understanding of energy transfer. ‘Engineer’ means any engagement in a systematic practice of design to achieve solutions to particular human problems, and we are using our scientific ideas on designing and creating.

What are you thinking about doing?

: I am planning to create a device that transfers either sound, thermal, pressure force, to electric energy and make the light bull works. However, I am sure that I am not going to waste the electric energy to make the electric energy. I hope I can create the new energy transfer techniques.

The advantage of my idea would be saving the energy, but it will be hard to make a successful design.

Making Awesome Board with Traditional Material

My project is about to create games, I and my partner Michael create a board game with simple materials, and the goal of this game is to kill your opponent’s characters, you have to go to the lucky block to get materials to kill your opponent’s character. We create cards and map. I choose this project is because I always want to create some kind of board game. Another reason is that I think creating a game is really cool and it’s really fun. The major events are creating the map and the lucky card, we spend 1 1/2 hours on the map and the lucky card. One thing that I’m really proud of is at the end of the day, we finish our super awesome fantastic board game, and it worked really well! From this process, I learned how to make a board game use traditional material!

There are some photo of the how we work and the character sheet

Here is the lucky card list.

Here is our map

This is what we did on One Day.  I learned a lot of things. I like One Day!

The Math Test that You Just Can’t Pass

We know that quite a couple of us like math, we like to compete in math, and we always do math tests that we complete in the end.
Can’t there be a math test that you just can’t pass? Where you only get further but it gets too hard and you eventually lose?
That’s what inspired me to make the “Impossible Math Challenge”

I decided to start programming it with a programming language called PYTHON, it is widely used to create games, and it is pretty straightforward.

However, I was overly ambitious about python, the bundle that I was using (Pygame 1.5) had an error on Mac that causes the new “blitted” image to crash. I had 600 lines written already, but I couldn’t manage to debug it.

Error: The error is due to the function called in lines 60-67, because it is not able to execute functions stored within functions or Game loops, in this case, the Main Loop. However I couldn’t find a way across because when I put the function outside of the game loop it is not able to execute within when it has to decide where my mouse clicked by importing the values (mousex, mousey) and since those values aren’t called with Global, Therefore (to me) I didn’t find a way to debug this, well at least for the duration of the day.

Before I gave up, Ms. Mai came and recommended me to do the

So I got started, collected some Kahoot Quiz Music, and started programming.

I made a simple Starting Prompt Module, with a fixed delay between the words (Left)

The Stage was attached to the main workflow by Functions, thus keeping the program non-reliant on the start button

The next problem I met was the fact that you can’t shut off a command that is running, unless you shut off the whole sprite’s current loops or functions. This issue caused me to not be able to shut off the player answering the question when the timer is out. Thus I created a double lock system (Right) and concepts are, if the time is up before the question loads, the question stops, if the player did not finish the question when the time stopped, the player’s answer would not count. An example of the system in use (Middle):

That’s Basically all of my program, It is not fully complete at this point as the questions are not fully added.

There is a chance of Extending this project and completing it in the future

We have been successful throughout the game making progress. The game is about five people trying to survive at an island with magic story and monsters. Multiple choices are given to the players that determine the ending of the story. This project will benefit me with lots of group work, will also involve luck in combat

The Title: Evolution

For OneDay, I chose the game group because there were no other good options (except for create comics).

In my project, I made a board game that “requires” good math skills. It is a role-playing simulation game, with an interchangeable game board. This game is basically like the game Dungeons and Dragons mixed with Civilization V mixed with Dice Rolling mixed with chance mixed with Settlers in Catan mixed with Death mixed with role-playing. For further information on how to play the game, please read my 30-page instruction book in this link. (Click on the t)

My biggest challenge was the instruction book, because this is a very complicated game, and it is about 10-20 pages long. I apologize that I did not finish it.

During OneDay, I started by going on tinkecad and designing my game pieces. This was fairly easy because the designs were not complicated. Then, I started to cut the game board, which took very long because there were many pieces and they required to be colored.

Overall, my day was good, but lacking levity. I felt generally Okay, but was a little bored at some points in the day. My thinking played out great.

I learned that creating a proper, original, functional game is difficult, and is not possible to complete in one day. (Get it? One day – OneDay?)

The Cool Mystery Island

Title: Mystery Island

For one day, we made a role-playing game. We worked on how to finalize our project. We also gain really much experiences. We chose to work on a role playing game because I thought they were fun Explain your Goal / Game for today!-

Explain your role/s in the creation of the game (image of plan)

I did all of the combat data for the group (evidence?)

-I found picture for the monster character (evidence?)

-I give suggestions to help improve the character (old man, changing character so not as strong – be more specific Francis)

I will help to Finnish up the game (by doing what….?)

 OUR MAP

Today is one day.My project of one day is create game. We are working in a team. We decide to create a role-play game call mystery island.  We made a map, designed characters, monsters and some basic detail that the game need . The game have 6 part and you need to escape the island with your teammates.I am excited to play this game.

I chose this project because the other two project were rejected me. Also, I am passion for create a game and I can improve my imagination.

OUR PLAN

We chose to create a role-play game because we are interested about this type of the game. We made a plan. Everyone had their own job. My job is design the monster, map and internal buildings and made a plot.

We searched the map on the website and put some worlds. The game was really fun.

un when we test it.

Making envelopes with Precious Plastics

Collecting Plastic

Before creating amazing things with this new material people need to find materials, and actually, it is pretty easy. The main kinds of plastic we use our 2,4, and 5 this type of plastic can be found in bottle caps, old vegetable trays, plastic bags, plastic milk cartons, and much more. In order to find the specific type of plastic, you can look at the bottom of a material and there should be the recycle logo and a number in the middle.

Project 1: Envelope

My first project was an envelope made out of old plastic bags. This envelope was very easy to make and can help the environment. I made the envelope by layering sheets of cut plastic bags together, then putting baking paper under and over the plastic sheets. Then  I put an iron over it and pushed hard. This melts the plastic and fuses the two sheets together. I did the same with the seams and sides. I think this worked out pretty well because we turned something that would probably go to the trash into a nice envelope you can send to your friends and family.

Project 1: Problems

During this project, I ran into a few problems. One problem I came across was that at first the teachers and students were confused about how to get the plastic to smoothly stick together using the iron. We found the answer when Ms. Boardman showed us the correct way. I also ran into some problems along the way, after around five minutes one of the envelopes seems came loose and I had to iron it back. This made it harder because there were three layers of plastic and only two of them were sticking.

Project 2: Carving

Project 2 didn’t come out as well. I decided to try and carve something out of the plastic but it turns out to be pretty tough. I say this because the plastic was strong and you couldn’t cut lines very accurately. This was also very hard to see without being up close. But overall if you work hard enough and try to be as accurate as possible yours might come out better. A machine that helped us make smoother and better edges was the sanding machine. The machine could actually cut away and slowly erode all the plastic you need. This also helped make our corners smoother and made nice curves.

I learned a lot during this project. It showed me that you should start reusing and little small things can make a difference in our trash piles. In the future i want to try and keep on doing precious plastics.

One day: Chill Pills

I learned a few things during Oneday. I learned that I can use different items to decorate an object. I also learned that I have to be careful with hot glue because I might get burned. What really challenged me is gluing the cloth onto the caps because I have to decorate the cap at the same time not make it harder to screw on and off. Also, I took half of my time to sort all the M&M colours. When I was gluing on the buttons it was easy to get burned because they had holes in the middle for the glue to leak out.  If I can redo this project I would buy more decorations and try to think of more creative ways to decorate the jars, at the time I couldn’t buy anything from Taobao so I didn’t have a lot of materials to decorate the outside of my jar. what I regret during my One day PRoject is gluing too much button on the jars and not buying enough M&M. s. ]
