Monkey’s Paw Paragraph

The setting of monkey’s paw creates a serious and depressing mood:”Outside, the night was cold and wet, but a fire burned brightly in the small living room of Laburnum Villa.”[ Jacobs(1) ] this sentence creates a serious and depressing mood made even more clearly due to the contrast between a dark and cold night and warm living room. When Sergeant Major Morris gave the monkey’s paw to Mr.White, “I warned you of the consequences.”(2) this makes the readers think and imagine what the horrible consequences are and what would happen to the main characters of the story. The setting is set in a dark and depressing mood because of the information of the story is about Herbert dying and reviving him and about Mr.White having nightmares and all, so this is why The Monkey’s Paw creates a serious and depressing mood.
