3 Things We All Love About the Three Body Problem

3 Things that we all Find Interesting About the Three body Problem.

  1. Ming boggling mysteries

When Wang saw the countdown at the dead center of his view, him and the readers were afraid and very confused as to why this is so. Very little information about this was given and many experts such as doctors say that it is most likely a hallucination. However, Wang knows that this isn’t true, we have no clue as to what the count down is, or what would happen when the countdown reaches 0.

Later the countdown disappears when he stops the current project him and his team were working on. This opens up many more mysteries as to what it is and why the countdown stops when their project is halted. Could the countdown be a threat? Why would it matter if their project is being developed? Could someone want the project to be halted? These are just a few of the many questions running through my mind when reading this. By having mysteries the author is more hooked in the more mind boggling it is, we all want to keep on reading on to figure out the reason that these things occur.

  1. Futuristic video games

We all want to play video games in a simulated fantasy world, a perfect place where you can be the god. This world can look like anything that you want it to be, and any laws of physics don’t even have to apply there! Although this world may seem like fiction, Cixin Liu does a fantastic job of merging such a fictional element into our real world. He talks about a V-suit which can help generate senses and make the gamer feel what is happening in the video game, such as heat, texture and so on. Most video games in our modern world gives us 2 senses, sight and sound. We see the video and we usually hear sound effects. However, in the game 3body, we are introduced to a new sense, the sense of touch. This sense would be beautiful, you would be able to feel like as if you were actually living inside of a world, if you were feeling a flower in the game, you would feel the soft petals sliding past your finger tips in real life, because of this V-suit. Cixin Liu

hooks us in with such a fantasy world and connecting it with our real world, and showing how the technology that is being used is actually not far in the future from our own.

  1. ALIENS!

If you read The Three Body Problem you would know that the cause of the mystery about the countdown was due to aliens. The aliens were called the Trisolarians and were a very intelligent species, the Trisolarians have extremely advanced nanotechnology Which allows them to create eight dimensional circuits which, when viewed in three dimensions, only occupy the volume of a proton. When 2 of these protons, siphons, have been manufactured from a lab and sent to Earth, would have the power for the Trisolarians to be able to cause hallucinations (Wang’s count down), spy and be able to view every corner of the Earth and all these transmissions gather information faster than the speed of light. Finding out about Aliens personally makes me really hooked into the book, I find that the ideas of aliens are amazing, and that life on other planets would change so much about our lives. It felt like the native Americans when Columbus discovered America. Suddenly you are brought to the fact that there are another species who have much more technology than you, and this idea gives us all so much thrill and makes us want to read on.

The Three-Body Problem

The Three-Body Problem:

Text to text: Similar to the OASIS in Ready Player One.

In the book The Three-Body Problem by Ci Xin Liu and translated by Ken Liu. The author shows very similar connections to the story Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. The use of a virtual reality simulation for the main plot device of the story is very clever and removes any limits science presents us with, being in a virtual world allows the author to write freely and allow a very interesting and never-seen-before story that takes place in a future utopian society. In the Three Body Problem we are shown a video game simulated world which, not only gives live virtual reality footage, also provides a V-Suit that gives real life sensations and feeling on what is going on in the simulation in real life, such as temperature, touch and textures. While reading this section where the Three Body is being explained really gave me flashbacks to when I was reading Ready Player One, in both books the use of a virtual world is almost at the verge of becoming reality, with suits that give feeling, being able to control a character in the virtual world, etc.

In most video games in the current world most people do not care about what happens in their games, it barely affects their real life, if you win or lose a match, your appearance, social status and feelings have almost no impact. However in the Three body and OASIS the video games are important in their world, it has V-Suits to simulate the pain, the cold, the heat and the sensations you get inside the video game, any damage caused in game could hurt in real life, giving serious consequences for playing this game. Both books are written about a virtual reality game and one person in it trying to solve a problem, Wang is trying to figure out the climate situation, while Wade is trying to find the egg. Stories inside of games and simulations allow the author to have a richer story filled with plots and laws that were never used before.

Rick and Morty plot analysis

In the first episode of the first season in the Rick and Morty series the main goal for and desire for Rick is to retrieve the mega seeds from the mega fruit in the mega trees from another dimension, this is a concrete desire, and is the major dramatic question of this episode: Will Rick and Morty successfully retrieve the alien mega seeds from a parallel dimension? And later on they face obstacles such as running out of charge on their portal gun, and having to go through customs, but was chased by security guards for having an illegal item, the mega seeds, on them. Most of these conflicts that they face or external, however, Morty’s conflict is much different. I believe that Morty is trying to make Rick like him, Morty admires Rick and that is why he will follow him on all these adventures in future episodes, he wants Rick to appreciate him, and that is his goal for the episode. The duo eventually saved themselves by using the portal that the dimensional customs had without permission to return home.  This first adventure will be the beginning of legends that will never to be forgotten, with Sze Chuan sauce, Pickles and much more.

(SPOILER) Her boyfriend is then notified by this threatens to take his life for money, after the payment is complete he beats Lawrence up.

“Congratulations!  It’s a boy!” The doctor exclaimed to Mr. and Mrs. Exeter.

In the year September 2nd of 1903 Lawrence Exeter opened his eyes for the first time, Lawrence was named after his father, a wealthy man who is happily married to Mrs. Exeter, both very excited to have their very first child. The couple had spent a lot of time on their newborn before he was even born, shopping for baby items weeks before the baby was delivered.

The Exeter family was a very cheerful family, the young Lawrence Exeter was like a ray of sunshine shining brightly on the household, making everyone happy wherever he was. He went to school at age 6, going to The Palisades School for Boys, a very prestigious school as they are a wealthy family. His parents constantly bought him toys and whatever he wanted, spoiling the child.

Time went by very soon as the boy turned into a man, on his 18th birthday his father bought him a Cadillac, and his father had to pay extreme prices every time he damaged it. In the same year Lawrence Junior went off to college, his father sent him $200,000, and left his parents alone.

During this time Lawrence Junior tried hard to keep up his grades at Stanford university, while trying to keep up his social life and making new friends left and right. Becoming very generous with his father’s money he bought many treats to his lady friends and as he bought more and more treats to more girls he gathered more and more lady friends. However, out of all the lady friends Lawrence found one the most gorgeous of them all, Miss Flossie Wentworth. Lawrence showered her with his father’s money, hoping to receive her affection. However, Lawrence soon found out that Flossie had a boyfriend, Tony Spagoni.

“HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY GIRL!” Tony yelled across the room as he caught Lawrence flirting with Flossie. Tony ran across the area and pointed his gun at Lawrence.

“I…I’m sorry man…” Lawrence said with his fragile voice, “I…I have some money…Please, this won’t happen again.” Tony lowered his gun, apparently Lawrence’s bribe has worked, that night he sent him a check of $126.

Life at the university went completely downhill from there, Lawrence was scared of running into Tony on campus, and whenever he did Tony would blackmail him to send him checks for his life. Each time the price going higher and higher, and Lawrence getting even more stress as the days go by. Lawrence was not focused in school at all and was barely getting sleep. The only thing Lawrence had cared about now was Flossie, behind Tony’s back Flossie was secretly seeing Lawrence once in a while, checking if he was fine.

Flossie really made Lawrence happy and their relationship grew stronger by the day. However, bad luck hit the both of them really strong one day as Tony saw Lawrence and Flossie together once again. Tony and his gang grabbed Lawrence and locked him up in a closet. They demanded checks of $100 from him every day, and Lawrence would sign them in exchange for his life. When Lawrence had eventually used up all his money he was useless to Tony and his friends, Lawrence was kicked and beaten for who knows how long, his thin jacket was swimming in blood, Lawrence let out a quiet, “I’m so sorry.” Before his heart stopped right before Tony.

Strange sounds:The Tell-Tale Heart Point of View Rewrite

Writing it in the perspective of 3rd person limited and focusing on the neighbor created a sense of distance and an overall picture of the behind the scenes. Obviously the neighbor played a big role in the story, being the one who called the police, and eventually leading to the main character getting arrested. Writing from 3rd person limited shows the reader what concerns the neighbor had and what lead up to him calling up the police.

3rd person limited rewrite:

It was 2:36am, Mr. Wilson was sleeping snuggly inside his warm and cozy cotton sheets. He was not moving at all, all except for his chest, slowly exhaling and inhaling, his chest growing bigger and smaller. As he inhaled all the air a loud choppy snore breathed through his small nostrils, and as he exhaled his chest slowly deflated like a balloon.

Suddenly some mumbling was heard from a house next door, obviously it wasn’t loud enough to wake Mr. Wilson from his deep dreams. But he twitched and turned around, he flipped all over his bed, the mumbling from the old man living next door seems to have affected Mr. Wilson from his sleep.

However, as time flew by Mr. Wilson seems to have stopped moving, he maintained his frozen state of peace and quiet sleep like nothing ever happened. But the silence from the old man next door did not remain very long, suddenly, out of nowhere a weak, fragile scream was heard next door! Mr. Wilson instantly jumped out of his bed! He looked around quickly. His face was crunched up like a ball like he just saw a ghost, his heart was beating fast. The scream wasn’t a very long scream, it remained a few seconds until it died out. Mr. Wilson picked up his home phone sitting right on his bedside drawer, and dialed the police.

Mr. Wilson, still being in a state of shock, told the police all about the scream heard next door, he told them about the old man as Mr. Wilson looked directly out of his window, staring straight at the old man’s house.

Junior as a character

How would you feel if you were born with a very weird appearance?

In the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Sherman Alexie creates a round protagonist- A character who is born with brain damage which caused many physical changes later in his life. The protagonist, Junior, is born in a poor Indian reservation. When he was born he had too much “water in the brain.” (Alexie) This caused him to have brain damage and when growing up his appearance was unlike others, his feet, hands and his head were rather large. He grew 8 extra teeth than most other people and had to get them pulled out. He always felt left out: “[Junior] want[s] the world to pay attention to [him].”  Furthermore, Alexie describes Junior as a very strong character, he may always be bullied, but he never gave up. He always stood up for himself, even if he was afraid of getting beaten up, as Alexie writes “[Junior] was afraid of getting beat up.” Even though Junior was not a tough kid, and he may seem weak when you first look at him, but when you look at what he has to go through you will soon discover that he is a very brave and strong person on the inside, this is how Alexie has created a round character.

Inspiring speech

Read the speech while having the music playing in the background, emphasize sometimes by slowing down:

“It doesn’t matter how hard you’ve fallen, it doesn’t matter how much you’ve lost, it doesn’t matter how badly you hit the ground, you have the ability to get back up. It’s never too late to start fighting for whats yours, it’s never too late to do what’s right, it’s never too late to respect yourself, it’s never too late to love yourself, to appreciate yourself. All you have in this world is your happiness, and you can’t let that go, you need to remember who you are, you need to remember your dreams, you need to remember that you’re enough. We’re not made to survive, we’re not made to manage our pain or get through it, we’re made to be creators of our lives. You said you wanted to change, you said you wanted to start again, what are you waiting for? Change doesn’t come over night, you need to get up and  decide to do what it takes to fight for what’s right, do what it takes to reach your goals, do what it takes to fight for your dreams, to fight for your rights, you got what it takes, you just need to work harder, you need to start to be the you you’ve always wanted to be your entire life. Start living your dreams, fight for your happiness, fight for your happiness, and start doing whats right.”
