Who’s in my room?

I changed this paragraph to a first person POV as I was the old man who barely held on in that situation. During the reinterpretation, fears speared out from the bottom of my soul will be conveyed to my readers. I’ll be the person who lying wake on the bed and try to get blessed.

First person

There was a slight groan came out from my mouth unintentionally, and it was because my extreme fear. I clearly knew that it was not a groan of pain or of grief, but of my mortal terror. I felt like I was almost stifled at that moment when my flesh overcharged with awe. I had been lying awake and praying for god to help me to overcome my panic since the first slight noise. My fears had been ever since growing upon me. I lied to myself in order to fancy them causeless, but could not. I murmured to myself “ It is nothing but the wind in the chimney of my house, it is only a mouse crossing the floor as it did in common, the sweat on my face drop down like waterfall, “ It is merely a cricket which has made a single chirp.” Yes, I had been trying to comfort myself with these.
