Lots of people think about their present and future but, they don’t usually care about everything they are doing even though it can change the future a lot. In the book A sound of thunder, this book talks about how small thing in the present can change the future a lot.
Even a small thing like touching a grass or stepping an ant can change the future in many different ways. In the scene where Eckels didn’t understand why can’t they even kill a mouse, Travis said “And all the families of the families of that one mouse! With a stamp of your foot, you annihilate first one, then a dozen, then a thousand, a million, a billion possible mice!” (Bradbury 5) When Eckels said like he still didn’t understand, Travis said “Well, what about the foxes that’ll need those mice to survive? For want of a lion, all manner of insects, vultures, infinite billions of life forms are thrown into chaos and destruction.” (6) Also, when Eckels came back to the present, he noticed that the result of the president election which was the day before changed and the grammar of English changed because he killed a butterfly from the past. This shows that even a small thing like killing a butterfly can change the future because when Eckels killed the butterfly, the future changed in a strange way.
To sum up, the book, A sound of thunder’s theme shows that even a small thing can change the future in many different ways.
