Spring is the quietest and beautiful time in the world, and spring is good for all life.

Sam is a small bee. He lives with his hive colony, with his mother, father, brother and sister, his queen bee, and many other bees. Their cells are at the top of an uncle. They have been hiding for weeks because they don’t like winter. His mean snow, his rude temperature, and his frustrating dark clouds. Make us hate winter even more.

However, on a very cold afternoon, all the animal species in the area gathered to meet about this long winter’s suffering. Birds, bugs, small rodents, and many other animals are coming. We have all experienced this winter. “We need honey!” said the Queen Bee. “We need worms to eat!” said the birds. “We need water and rice!” said the insects. “We need nuts and berries!” said the small rodents. The big tree outside said, “We need the sun!” In this case we will not last too long, no food, no nutrition, and animals are getting weaker. The bees began to rebel against their queens. The birds began to raid each other’s lairs, stole and plundered food. The insects began to become cannibals, tearing each other’s head and abdomen to eat. Rodents began to sell food to children and families, big trees. It began to rot and fall.

There is chaos everywhere. Until one morning, Sam came out of the beehive and did not shiver. There is light on the land, the ground is full of flowers, and the animals are stalking. Winter is finally over! spring is coming! Flowers have honey, so the bees go to get the honey, the worms come out, so the birds start to eat, the river melts, the plants begin to grow, so the insects have food and water, and the big trees have the sunlight, so they continue Become bigger and bigger. Life is perfect, it is because of one thing! “Thank you for spring!” All the animals and trees are screaming.

Internet Reliability

One very effective way to test the reliability of an internet website is by putting it through the CRAP test. The CRAP test stands for currency (or the time it was published or last edited), relevance  (The usefulness of the information), authority (The author and source of the information on the page), and purpose (Why the information on the website is there). These small tests are really important because, for currency, you have to make sure that the information is in your time period and up to date, this is important because scientists are finding new things about so many problems every day and you have to make sure you have the latest and most modern news for whatever you’re researching. Relevance is also very important, you need to know who this was created for as well as what it is about. This way you will get the information in the best form of language for you as well as have it better related to your topic. Next is the authority, to ensure the information is reliable, you need to know who created it if its someone who checks their facts and includes other websites where they got information, or if its someone who makes up facts on the spot. This way your information will come to you the most reliable when the person writing it is reliable. Also, using sources popular around the world is also fairly reliable (excluding Wikipedia) because a popular website does not want its readers to not trust them. And lastly, you want to know the purpose of the website. Whether it is to inform you, sell to you, entertain you, or persuade you, all of which can determine the reliability of the source. Another thing you should analyze is to see whether the information is correct facts, opinions, or propaganda, which can be misleading, exaggerated, and incorrect. All of the points in the CRAP test, directly help you to find the reliability of a website, to best determine the information you can trust, and give you the best answers to your questions.

Larry the Robot Chicken

This is Larry the chicken. During the DT project based on making an interactive robot creature, my partner Sam and I decided to create a robot chicken. On the outside, our final project may just look like a cardboard chicken, but it does a lot more than just being a chicken. When someone pats his head, both his wings and his beak move replicating a real baby chicken.

Our biggest obstacle was finding a way to make the parts move. We went through many prototypes that took up most of our time, first, we tried to use 3 servos, one for each moving part. we attached the serves onto the inside walls of the chicken, but because the servo couldn’t turn in a 360-degree motion, our plan failed. We decided to use a contraption that made the servo move like an elevator up and down and connect all three moving parts and have them move by using the modified servo. But that also didn’t work because the servo wouldn’t work correctly with the contraption. Our last and final try on making the parts move worked. We decided to use string to connect all the pieces to the servo. This way when the servo moved, it pulled the strings making all the moving parts move as well.

If I were to do this again, I think the first thing I would do differently, would be planning our robot better. If my partner and I were to make a rock-solid plan, all we would have to do is make the box, and attach the servos, we wouldn’t have to make so many mistakes and trials making the robot move take up our time. Not only would making a better plan make our efforts more efficient but with the time spared, we would be able to make the design better by painting the robot and making it look more like a chicken.

Overall, I think my robot design project was very successful. In the beginning, when we asked the audience what they most wanted from our robots, they said they wanted it to be very interactive. Although my chicken doesn’t really look like a chicken, it was very interactive. When patted on the head, both its wings and its beak move to replicate a baby chicken, and it would make a chirping sound. All in all, my robot chicken was successful.

Live Edge Candle Wax River Table Final

For one day, my partner Sam and I made a live edge candle wax river table. There were many problems through the process of making this table that we had to analyze and overcome. First of all, to make the river crevice, we needed a very powerful and loud power tool called the router. It was so loud in fact, that we weren’t allowed to use with other people around, so we ended skipping lunch running the router through the wood. Secondly, was the warped wood, the main piece of wood was a little bent, we took a long time making the perfect fit for the legs. And lastly, was pouring the river wax. This was challenging because it was difficult to pour the wax evenly and spread out across all parts of the river avoiding clumps and overfilling. Overall our finished table was a success, with a few mistakes we made while making it, it ended up looking nice. Our greatest success was making the river look natural and real.

Here is our finished project:

One Day Blog Post – Furniture Making

For One Day, my partner Sam and I are planning to make a crayon river coffee table. It will look like a normal coffee table, except there will be a 1 cm deep river running through the center of the table, with colorful crayons melted into the river. The dimensions (in cm) of the wood we are using are (Length) 179, (width) of 28.7, and (height) 2.4. First, we will cut 29.5 cm of wood on both sides of the wood to create the legs. Next, we will sand down all the sharp edges of the wood to prevent any cuts and splinters as well as give it a nice smooth look. To carve into the wood, we will use the router power tool to make the river crevice. After we have achieved our river look, we will split different sections of the river for different colors. We will melt crayons into the river to make a colorful lively river. Once the crayons harden, we’ll polish the top of the table with a nice wood finish to make the colors pop and prevent any scratches on the table. To finish, we will finally secure the 2 29.5 cm legs to the table.
