My found poem was taken from page 4 of the short story “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” by W.D. Wetherell. It shows the man versus self conflict which is internal conflict. In the climax of the story, this conflict shows the situation that the boy, who is both protagonist and antagonist has to make a decision between Sheila (a girl he likes) or the biggest fish he ever caught (the Bass) since he loves fishing. The main character of this poem, the boy decided to pick Sheila instead of fish. And when they reach the place where the band plays music, the boy can dance once or twice with her and Sheila told him he is a funny kid. After that, he realizes he doesn’t like her anymore and he will catch fish which represents his passion and never made the same mistake again. By showing this conflict, the boy decided to follow his passion and be true to himself rather trying to impress others.
