EYEGLASSES ASSESMENT

DEVELOP AND PLAN :- BRAINSTORMING DIFFERENT IDEAS THROUGH SKETCHING DIFFERENT DIFFERENT DESIGNS:-

Made with Padlet

Below are the different design that inspired me a lot , I decided to sketch so that I can get an overall idea of the refinements that are to be made during the making of eyeglasses , for example size of the lens, size of both the arms , shape of the frame

These were some designs that I could easily relate to my sister’s preferences of something not very usual but at the same time something artsy and funky..

This was the design that I chose move on with..

CREATE AND IMPROVE :- Practicing , Prototyping and Refining

since I wasn’t familiar with working on an illustrator  , I practiced on a Cadbury logo so that I can easily work on designing my prototype.

since it was my first time doing this , at first it was really frustrating specially during making he curves but somehow I managed

But the good part was that I got to know different features of an illustrator which was an entirely new experience

PRACTICING VECTOR POINTS

Practicing vector points made me more confident and comfortable with working on AI, so I chose to move on creating my prototype through AI so that I can laser cut it later..

This was the first prototype design that I made , as evident from the picture below it needed a lot of refinement before undergoing laser cutting.

 FINAL PROTOTYPE

                                                                                >>>>>>>>>>

THEN I DECIDED TO LAZER CUT MY PROTOTYPE –

THESE CAME OUT PRETTY COOL ..

SHARE AND REFLECT

My overall process of making these glasses in a nutshell

  • started with sketching rough thumbnails for brainstorming ideas
  • choosing a prototype design
  • practiced vector and perspective drawing (something new to learn)
  • learned working on AI
  • practicing , prototyping and refining the design on AI
  • practicing vector points in order to improve myself and get familiar with it
  • finally drafting a prototype on AI
  • getting it laser cut

My final prototype came out pretty well, these are comfy , cool and stylistic too. But my aim was making them a bit funky and look more artsy so next time I will try making it a bit colorful .

But my final design fits the user’s choice and my user liked them a lot ..

Precious Plastics

PRODUCT DESIGN

https://isbeijing.padlet.org/kallikamehrotra/cqelny5b8wnffsya

(LINK OF MY PADLET) you can copy this link to see some more cool precious plastic bag designs!!!!!

TASK:- create a bag or a wallet out of recycled plastics

Name of the product :- Sourire

I named my product this because my template has a smile on it and sourire means smile , so the main aim of this product is to make my audience smile upon using my product and always keep smiling J

PURPOSE:- OUR MAIN PURPOSE IS TO REPURPOSE SOFT PLASTICS WHICH ARE VERY HARMFUL FOR OUR PLANET AND ACT AS A POLLUTANT IF NOT RECYCLED OR REUSED PROPERLY. SO WE INTEND TO CONVERT THIS HARMFUL SUBSTANCE INTO SOMETHING COOL WHICH WILL ALSO INSPIRE AND AWARE PEOPLE ABOUT PLASTICS AND AT THE SAME TIME inspire THEM IN FINDING TREASURE OUT OF TRASH!!!!

Audience:-

Anyone interested in bags or different designs of bags but at the same time in saving the environment and in using recycled products!!

IMPROVEMENT:-

NEXT TIME I WOULD LIKE TO WORK ON THE TEXTURE and material of my template ,as in I will try to make the texture more refine and also improve the use of colors in my design and most importantly  smoothen the texture.

Challenges:-

To be honest I didn’t face a lot of challenges in making my product, the only challenge I faced was during the process of making soft sheet for my product because I had to keep layering it with bubble wrap since it was coming out very thin and and was not very strong..!

What’s working well with my design ?

the thing that I really like about my design is that it’s simple but not boring, I couldn’t add all my ideas to the template due to lack of time but have a lot of innovative ideas for my design.

I also like the steep finishing of my design which gives it a perfect shape..!

WHY DID I CHOSE THIS DESIGN?

I CHOSE THIS DESIGN BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE BAGS DESIGNED IN THIS MANNER WORK MULTI PURPOSELY , THERE ARE A RANGE OF WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN USE THEM,

1)WE CAN EITHER USE THEM AS A CARRY BAG AND CAN CARRY STUFF LIKE PHONES IN THEM ,

2) GIRLS CAN ALSO USE  THIS AS THEIR MAKEUP POUCHES AND STORE THEIR MAKEUP PRODUCTS IN THEM

3)AT THE SAME TIME THEY CAN BEUSED TO KEEP MONEY IN THEM WHILE GOING OUT FOR SHOPPING

My template

FRONT

         BACK

                     FRONT OPEN

                 INSIDE VIEW

This is my PROTOTYPE , it’s not exactly  as my actual product design WOULD BE , I still need to add a string and a close button to it.

But this is what I have taken my inspiration from AND MY ACTUAL WOULD BE VERY MUCH FAMILIAR TO IT IN TERMS OF SHAPE AND TYPE OF BAG

I USED THIS TEMPLATE IN ORDER TO MAKE MY PROTOTYPE

THIS WAS ACTUALLY VERY HELPFUL IN MAKING MY DESIGN,WE JUST HAVE TO CUT OUR SOFTSHEEET ACCORDING TO THE SHAPE OF THE TEMPLATE AND CAN THEN RESEBLE IT IN THE SHAPE OF THE BAG!!
