Unit 2: Drawing Folio

  • How could observational drawing be a useful technique in the define & enquire phase of the design process?

Observational drawing could be a useful technique in the define & enquire phase of the design process because it helps the designer to develop new ideas. It makes their ideas and visuals more realistic.

  • Briefly describe what you did for the observational drawing part of the unit

For my observational drawing, I did some stuffed animals. Basically because they were right in front of me.

  • Include images of all of your observational drawings

  • What is visualization drawing and what are the biggest challenges?

visualization drawings is when your drawing looks identical to the object you were looking at. The biggest challenge is the shading, every object has a different texture and it is very hard to show them.

  • Briefly describe what you did for the visualization drawing part of the unit

For my visualization drawing part of the unit, I did a spoon, a glass and an apple.

  • Include images of all of your visualization drawings

  1. What’s working well?
I think you did well on describing what you see around you.
What can you learn from their work?
I can learn that you use a pen very deeply.
What piece of advice can you offer to support their improvement?
maybe use different stuffed animals to draw.

  2. Hi! I like that you mentioned the ‘texture’ while you were explaining about the ‘challenges of visualization drawing’ because I also agree with that! I also can see that you put the effort into your work and included a lot of details for your drawings, but I think you should make your images larger because it makes people hard to see your drawings. (Even though we can click it) Otherwise, great job 🙂

  3. Thanks for a good reflection, Kiki. There is a key difference between observational drawing and visualization that you have not covered… check the guide and see if you can work it out!
