On Thursday, some people weren’t able to get on the train, so the people who did got on the train had to wait for them at our first location. Then during lunch, we had an argument over which restaurant to go to. After that, our trip ran very smoothly. To me, I think our group did a better job of staying as a group and collaborating than Tuesday, because no one is left alone at any point, and we also moved quicker as a group. In this project. I think my collaboration skills got better, because we had to work as a group to make sure no one is left behind. My favorite part of the project is the traveling, because we get to experience the BJ Metro and I can also go to places that I’d never went to. Click here to access the BJ Metro Blog.
The skills we need are problem solving and communication. Those skills are important, because if someone gets lost during the trip, we need to communicate and problem solve for us to find them. For the trip, I’m assigned to find the total traveling cost. Using Baidu map, I figured out that the cost for each person is 12 RMB. Since we have 15 people including teachers, 15 x 12 = 180 RMB. The people who are assigned to find the route to The Forbidden City decided that we should start at China International Exhibition Center, change to line 5 at DaTunLu east, then change to line 1 at DongDan, finally, leave the subway at TianAnMen east. My plan for making the web page is to have the name of restaurant on top. Then, have the address, how to get there via subway, and what they are famous for at the center of the web page. Finally I would have a picture of the restaurant and a photo of the route at the bottom of the page.
We are trying to make a resource for families new to Beijing/ISB to understand the Beijing Metro and some good places to go to. Our second task is to see how many stations can we go to within one day. To me, I think the researching and putting in the information to the resource is the hardest part of the project. Currently, I am researching some restaurants in Beijing and the closest subway station to it. 3 places I researched are DaDong, SanLiTun, and Joy City. These 3 places are easy to go to, because they are fairly close to each other.
