What strikes you the most about the story? How does the author use language to make meaning of his/her message?
In the book “The Book Thief” by Markus Zuska and, I think the thing that strikes me the most is the narrator, Death. in the story, the narrator, which is also the author of “The Book Thief”, knows the story and fate of each character. and the main character Lisel, is the only one who saw Death in the story. In this book, the author focuses on using language to heal, to save, and to fight against injustice. the background of this book is World War II. So, overall the book got a dark mood, but the main character and her family are described as people who can sacrifice themselves and help others in the midst of war, which expresses the power of language to make a positive difference.
