The found poem above is from the story “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” by W.D Wetherell. The conflict of this story is about if the main character should choose between Sheila or the Bass, this is found on page 4. This conflict is internal because the author makes a decision in inside himself, he is struggling because one side is Shelia which he has a crush on, the other side is the bass, which is his passion. This conflict also shows man vs. nature because the fish was pulling the pole but the author did not want Sheila to know because she hates fishing. This conflict forces the character to make a decision, at last, the author chooses the girl and cuts the line of his fishing pole.
