In total, I drew around 21 glasses that I would like to make. In the beginning, I drew what my person wanted; sleek cut aviators. Then I started to get creative and drew “wax” which I came up with based on the mythological story of Icarus and Daedalus. In the third photo, I drew some of my favourite glasses such as avocado and lightning.

Name of book: Adrift

Author: Tami Oldham Ashcraft

I finished reading a book called Adrift. I thought I wrote a blog on this before, but apparently, I have not, so I would like to write about it because it could be the book I would like to use for the Academic Essay. This book intrigued me because it involves two things I love to read about, romance and tragedy. As well as the fact that this is a true story and involves a female protagonist.

Recycled soft plastic bag

I didn’t want to mess up my project so i created a draft wallet that turned out pretty well. I found cubed plastic infused in bubble wrap. Then chose to do that on all four sides and created a miniature purse. I think what was challenging was the fact that i needed to melt the plastic together but still needing to create an opening to store supplies. I needed to have the product to come from the same plastic not multiple squares that i need to infuse together.

Chionophobia is the fear of snow. In Greek, chion means snow and phobos meaning fear. During this scene, the characters are caught in a monstrous snowstorm while driving on a road that is on the side of a mountain. This will later help the character develop chionophobia. I  chose to have the road cracked and uneven, on top of not being able to see 5 feet in front of them the characters have to deal with the stress of a wavy, uneven road. I placed the road next to a mountain so there is a possibility that an avalanche could acquire any minute.

I have started reading the book “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown. Brown writes about the lives of nine Americans who won gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics for rowing. It starts by talking about the boy’s lives before college and how the tryouts went. I started reading it because of how highly recommended it was. And I must say that it has not disappointed.

Name of book: Mocking Jay

Author: Suzanne Collins

Page #: N/A

I have really finished reading “Mocking Jay” by Suzanne Collins, but I have started reading “The absolutely true diary of a part-time Indian” by Sherman Alexie. “Mocking Jay” is a great book, and I am thinking about it being my Academic Essay book. I love the series because the books are exciting and I haven’t got tired of it yet. I am thinking of writing about a  place called the capital were the people who live there are very wealthy and a bit snobbish. They live a lavish lifestyle, and that is the only life they know, but they have no idea what is really happening outside of the capital inside the districts. They love to watch the huger games and don’t ever think of how it impacts these children’s districts and families. In fact, they believe it is a privilege to be chosen to be in the games. I believe the author wanted to symbolize the wealth today and how they don’t realize how bad it is for other people who aren’t as rich and live in a not so great area.

When reading this book, I thought about how the capital has kept the Hunger Games up for 75 years and broadcaster the games everywhere. Meaning they are pretty advanced with technology. I was thinking what year is this and aren’t there other countries in the world? That leads me to a larger question was Collins writing about North Korea. The scene that made me think this was when Venia, Flacius, and Octavia were torched for stealing pieces of bread.
