This video is not made to offend any society or individual. It may be biased because all humans deserve to express their opinions and it is hard to be completely factual.
This video shows the what, where, how and when of the first stage (Red Stage) of the Great Proletarian Chinese Cultural Revolution. It explains the important events and turning points of the Red Stage. It explains why Mao swam across the Yangtze river before starting the revolution, why children were made Red Guards instead of the adults and the Four Olds.
This video by Aditi gives an overview of the book. It discusses the themes, central idea and social issues in ‘Ten Days a Madwoman’. The small paragraph is about the experience reading this book
Ten Days a Madwoman, is a literary non-fiction book by Deborah Noyes, which depicts the life of a young female reporter who went by the nickname Nellie Bly. It enlightens the reader on false stereotypes against women during the 18-1900s. The theme of this book is that women are as capable as men in every sphere of activity.
One should read this book because it is both informative and inspiring. Deborah Noyes seems to be motivating young women to overcome hurdles such as discrimination and stereotypes in order to achieve their dreams. It also describes the problems regarding sexism around the world. I was really inspired to do my best after reading this book. It seemed to raise my spirits and achieve my dreams.
In this unit, I realized that non-fiction books are not only informative and inspiring but can also be fun to read.
The Boxers were a group of people who reacted violently to the increasing number of Chinese Christians and foreigners in China.
No, the Boxers did not deserve a bad reputation. When a few Germans in Shandong got killed, it resulted in Germany taking over the southern area of Shandong. This resulted in the other countries taking over parts of China. The Boxers were angry with the foreigners since earlier because of the opium wars, seeing their home being taken away would make them upset. The Boxers were just trying to take back their home and get rid of the foreigners in China. The German representative got a lot of people captured and executed because they were suspected of being one of the Boxers. This did not just affect the Boxers but it affected the rest of the nation too. This is why the Boxers would have made a move. They would have been offended because innocent people were dying because of the Germans, thus they attacked the Germans first. China had to agree to unequal treaties, they had to pay unfair amounts of money, if they did not trade with the foreigners. This upset the Boxers because their country was getting destroyed because of the amounts of money it had to pay. The opium wars led to the Chinese government paying more than 21M pounds to the British.
This is Hermia on a magazine cover called “Witches Weekly”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
In the play Midsummer Night’s Dream, there are some characters who are in love and this causes a lot of conflict. Hermia is the main character and is very rebellious, bold, and is thought of as property by her father, Egeus. When given the choice to marry Demetrius, die or be a nun forever, Hermia says “So will I grow, so live, so die my lord. Ere I will yield my virgin patent up unto his lordship, whose unwished yoke my soul consents not to give sovereignty.” This showed that she would rather wither away than marry somebody she did not love. She said this even though nobody ever disagreed with the duke or any man. When Theseus tells Hermia to look at the two men from her father’s point of view she says “I do entreat your Grace to pardon me. I know not by what power I am made bold, Nor how it may concern my modesty, In such a presence here to plead my thoughts; But I beseech your Grace that I may know The worst that may befall me in this case, If I refuse to wed Demetrius.” This shows that she is not actually very bold and has a reputation to be modest. She wonders that by talking to the duke whether she is damaging that reputations. When Lysander says that Demetrius should marry Egeus since Egeus loves him, Egeus says “Scornful Lysander, true, he hath my love; And what is mine, my love shall render him. And she is mine, and all my right of her I do estate unto Demetrius.” This shows that in those times all women belonged to a man. The man would either be her father or her husband. Since Hermia belonged to her father according to this rule, she would have to do what her father says. This why even though she loves Lysander she must marry Demetrius.
