My magazine is titled “Royal Flush”. I chose this name because in the play MSND Duke Theseus is what I would call a Royal Flush. He is arrogant, biased, and unreasonable as mentioned in my magazine. These traits are also represented by the clueless/confused monkey on my cover. I say this because he tries to tell Hermia who she can marry, and he acts in an unreasonable way by threatening her death if she doesn’t marry Demetrius. As the text says, “Either to die the death or to abjure forever the society of men.” He also has some internal conflict: “What say you, Hermia? be advised fair maid:To you your father should be as a god;”. This sentence shows he is struggling on whether to be on Hermias side, or to be on the father (Egeus’s) side. Others have different opinions of him, “So will I grow, so live, so die, my lord,” Hermia is basically saying you are being unfair and preposterous by telling me what I have to do according to my father. But her father (Egeus) thinks highly of him, “Happy be Theseus, our renowned duke!” So, in conclusion, Duke Theseus is not very thoughtful and flat out bossy.
