The Cultural Revolution

I was born twice first as a nice and week fourteen-year-old girl who would do anything to get into the best college. The second time was when I woke up with a red armband on me and bloodstains on my shirt. Hearing the cries and screams of children and women as I woke up, I knew that at that moment I would never go back into being the warm-hearted Wang Moyao I was. Everything that happened is written in my journal. I kept my journal with me all along I hope you can see what had happened.

Although things had changed like the way that people thought of foreign culture and the four Olds, there were still things that stayed the same. In china communism was what held us to this point, if we didn’t go by communism, I wouldn’t know if we could still get to this point today.  Not just communism stayed the same, but also the levels in people. I know it is not good to have a different way of treating people way their level. In nowadays china they don’t judge the levels people are in, and now the government is helping a lot to the people who need the help. Things come and go, but things that need to stay in the future must stay whether you like it or not.

The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution

During 1966-1976 The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution happened. What caused The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution to happen and get really serious was in 1958 after the first five-year plan. In the beginning1957, Mao made his plan to modernize China. In that same year and the years to follow, Mao promised to get a better economic system, let everyone have the same amount of wealth, and the conditional development of the country, then surpass ofter countries. then in the early 1960s, because China was struggling from the five-year plan, Liu Shaoqi, Deng Xiaoping, and Premier Zhou Enlai gave economic policies to the great leap forward that they were planing. These leaders didn’t really agree with Mao’s opinions and visions. In 1962, when Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, and Deng Xiaoping were in charge of the economy, Mao had decided to start a revolution into making China a better country. Then what happened next is in this video.

Covid has a Great Great Great Grandmother?

“Fatal Fever Tracking Down Typhoid Mary” is written by Gail Jarrow.  Here is an overview of how they tracked where typhoid had come from and how people found out about how the sickness traveled around and killed lots of people.

“Fatal Fever Tracking Down Typhoid Mary” by Gail Jarrow talks about the outbreak in 1907 of typhoid fever and “Typhoid Mary”. This book explains how healthy people can still carry bad diseases and infect other people. Healthy people can still carry bad diseases because the victims of typhoid fever can become immune to typhoid.  The meaning of this book is that they want people to know how important it is to follow and cooperate with the government regulations because they are studying the diseases and finding a cure. In this day we are living in a pandemic and still, we have people who do not listen or even do not even care about what the government has to say.

I really recommend this book because first students can learn about the the1907 outbreak of typhoid fever in this book there is a perfect historical perspective of the Covid-19/Coronavirus pandemic that is happening in our world today, and also in this book, there is a glossary, timeline, and a list of well-known typhoid sufferers and victims so people can learn a lot in this book. I learned that not only we need to listen to government regulations, but we also have to beware of what we do and what we have in our own bodies.

Something I learned in this unit is if I really concentrate to read non-fiction books and read the text, I will gain a deeper understanding of the book’s meaning and I can learn new and more stuff with just reading a book. Before I use to think that reading non-fiction books were lame and boring but, now I think it is really interesting and can teach me things.

Do the Boxers Deserve a Bad Reputation?

The boxers do not deserve a bad reputation.According a local historian d that the Boxers lived a dangerous existence in the foreign legations in Beijing, so they decided to kill or attack the Boxers, but because the Boxers were undercover the British people killed lots of innocent people living in Beijing at that time. The Boxers do not deserve a bad reputation because the Boxers were not the people who started the war. The foreigners after the opium wars pushed their way into China and started to spread their own religions and beliefs, then to start claiming parts of China heirs. In this war, the Boxers were trying to protect their homeland, why they used such violence was because talking it out would not work cause the British and the foreigners would not listen.

HELENa daughter of nedar by Gracie

This characterization magazine poster was based on the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, I choose Helena because she was a really easy one to write about. The photo I used for this magazine poster was a really beautiful photo of Helena, why I choose this photo was because she said that she was not as beautiful as Hermia, but in this photo, you can see that is very pretty. I feel like the quote that I used was really good because it gives me a good vibe when I hear it.

Make the Better Choice

picture from https://www.commonlit.org/texts/the-little-girl-who-would-not-work-1

Everything works around you they do that for a reason, so do you so try to take a step of responsibility. The main character “the little girl” from the storyThe Little Girl Who Would Not Work”, does not like to work and never even thought about getting a job. But when one day she went to go ask the squirrels, bees, ants, and flowers if they worked and they all said yes. after the little girl went around to ask, she started to take responsibility for herself by making a choice of to get a job or not. The big idea of the story was responsibility and self-worth.

In the story “The Little Girl Who Would Not Work”, by, Carolyn Sherwin Bailey, the author believes that responsibility is really important in life because it can help you go further in life.  During the story, the main character asked two animals if they do work. After the two animals answered her question, she started to think about it: “‘the girl walked along very slowly, for she was thinking”’ (Bailey 1).  The author showed that there was something up her mind, so she was walking slowly and for what was on her mind. She was thinking about if it was better to get a job and work from now on or just play and not do anything forever. As the story continues the girl said to her mother, “‘mother the squirrels and the bees and the ants and the flowers all work…I want some work to do”’ (Baily 2). When the little girl says to her mother about how she wants to do some work you can see that she takes responsibility for herself and she makes a choice of doing something that can help her get through life, and she had this thought because she noticed that everything around her has a job and they work every day for a purpose. In conclusion, you have to give yourself a push into things that are important and have a reason to be, just try.

Thank You Ma’am Internal Conflict

The found poem’s story was taken from a short story called thank you ma’am written by Langston Hughes. The conflict in the story is an internal conflict, the conflict is that is the boy is thinking about if he wants to stay in the women’s house or leave the boy in this story is the protagonist is the boy and the antagonist is the women. In my poem the concept is the woman says, “I teach right from wrong.”, my sink supports my poem because the most important thing in my poem is the internal conflict which is when the boy looks at the door and looks at the sink.

school uniforms

School uniforms

The vast majority of kids don’t want to wear school uniforms. According to one districtwide survey in Volusia County, Florida, nearly 70 percent of students said they were against a uniform policy. Personally, I don’t like wearing uniforms because it can take away the freedom of expressing yourself, really expensive and really uncomfortable.

Schools should not have uniforms because students should have their own way of expressing themself by wearing the unique clothes that they have. According to uniforms destroy individuality article, students with experience in wearing uniforms says it takes away a sense of indivitratiy, and because of this kind of taking away a sense of indivitratiy kids then would just wear a bad style of school uniform style to work and people would laugh at them then they will feel bad. This is why schools should not have uniforms.

Secondly, schools should not have uniforms because some schools’ uniforms can be really expensive, and some kids can’t afford the uniforms then they get picked on. According to a school elastic article, an investigator investigated that the average price of uniforms in schools around America, and the average price was $25-$200 per uniform and if every summer and winter they change the uniforms. How much money does the school get in a year just for a piece of clothing? This is also why schools should not have uniforms!

Lastly, schools should not have uniforms because school uniforms not only can be expensive, and it can also be really uncomfortable. Most teachers say that students should wear uniforms so they can concentrate more on their learning, but if the uniforms are uncomfortable then how would the students concentrate on their work or the teacher? School uniforms can be very uncomfortable because most female students don’t really like wearing skirts or dresses like me, but the problem is we have to wear polo skirts for 7 hours and plus. According to school uniforms, teen ink articles we shouldn’t wear school uniforms because school uniforms have to be tucked in the skirts or paints and uniforms have to be all tight and suited up. Some people will say that some school uniforms are comfortable, but if the uniforms are comfortable then the fabric would be really good, but if it is really good fabric then it would still come back to the problem of being expansive, and that is why schools should not have uniforms.

These are the reasons why schools shouldn’t have uniforms because they take away the freedom of expressing them-self, and they are pretty expensive for some students, lastly it is because the uniforms are really uncomfortable. This is why 70 percent of students in Florida is right.

drama

Why drama is awesome?

Drama is a grate class, drama class is a class where you can use your imagination and you can discover your hidden powers that you didn’t know you even have like me I thought that I could not speak by myself in front of people ,but when I had my performance for the Shakespeare monologue I knew how to speak by myself even though I didn’t get a high score, but I still tried speaking loud and clear which really helped me in drama. Drama can be a new experience and you will love it.

  1. How did I plan and prepare for this performance?

I practiced my lines and prepared some moves.

  1. What am I proud of?

I am proud that I spoke in a loud voice.

  1. What’s my favorite thing about this unit?

My favorite thing is to make our own movements.

  1. Why study and perform Shakespeare?

So we can be better at other performances and nail it.
