"I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious" - Albert Einstein

What is your biggest take away from 6th grade science?

My biggest take away in 6th grade science is probably everything I’ve done and learned. In 5th grade I felt like we didn’t learn much, we learned how to make ice cream, butter, and some more stuff. Compared to 6th grade I feel like I actually learned about science, and realised that science is actually really interesting. I thought at first that science would be really hard but then I realised that if I tried hard enough it isn’t actually that hard.

If you were to write your own comment on the report card, what would you say?  How confident do you feel in making models in science, analyzing data, and constructing scientific explanations?

If I was to write my own report card I would tell myself you have improved a lot, I remember looking back at my grades for science a few months ago and saw that my grades have improved a lot  from the beginning to now. I would just tell myself that sometimes you can do a lot more than you think you can. I feel confident making models in science, analyzing data, and constructing scientific explanations.  I am not sure if I am good at it but I am sure that I have gotten better at it. But I think after summer break I am going to need to remind myself, I always forget things during summer break.

What would you like to work on for next year in science?

I am actually not quite sure what I would like to work on next year in science, there are so many things you can learn. I don’t even know what to choose between, I’d like to learn a lot of new things.

water filter experimenting

The problem is we are on this island finding water. But the water that we found was dirty so we are trying to get a filter to filter the water. Luckily some tape, cotton balls, a rubber band, some wire , and a plastic bottle washed up.  So now we are trying to find a way to make a filter with some tape, a plastic bottle, some silk that we riped from our clothes, cotton balls, wire, some rubber bands, and rocks.

The dirty water included dirt, pebbles, sand, and rocks.

To make the filter we used a plastic bottle, duct tape, cotton balls, rubber band, rocks, and wire.

Engineering is important because it will help you solve problems when you have one. And you also learn a lot while your engineering.

A challenge I had was taping the silk on and cutting the bottle it was really hard.

I choose this design because I thought it would work best. My design was okay I liked it but I think we still could’ve done better. If I could do it again I would probably add more rocks and silk because there were still a lot of small rocks and a little dirt I think.
