Argumentative Essay Reflection

Two things that I did well in is that I wrote in a very formal style I did not use (didn’t, I’m,…) I also provided a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the argument presented. I felt like I concluded my essay properly and I also highlighted my position and I reflect the heart of the statement and why this topic matters.

Two things that I need to improve on is to Describe the roles of political, civil, and economic organizations in shaping people’s lives. Because I did not really talk about how this shapes people’s lives. Secondly, I need to use knowledge of language and its conventions when writing, speaking, reading, or listening.
I need to expresses my ideas precisely and concisely, recognizing and eliminating wordiness and redundancy. My argumentative essay was too wordy, and was not that clear.

How Does Making Good Choices Impact Percy And His Community?

How does making good choices impact Percy and his community?

“ADHD is not about knowing about what to do but doing about what one knows.”  Says Russel Barkley. This shows that ADHD is not about what to do it’s about who you are. For example, Percy’s choices are impacted by ADHD, because it makes him distracted at school. ADHD also impacts Percy’s attitude toward school and his study habits. However, managing emotions also impacts Percy making good choices for himself and his community.  This all impacts Percy and his good choices because he is very impulsive, and he does not think before he does something.

ADHD impacts Percy’s choices because he gets easily distracted at school. On-Page 5 Percy says “Nancy Bobofit snickers something about the naked guy on the stele, and I turned around and said, will you shut up? It came out louder than I meant it to.” This shows that Percy does not think before he says something. In addition, the article Neurodiversity: A different view of ADHD states that “Getting easily distracted and avoiding activities that require focus are also symptoms.” This shows that Percy does have ADHD because he gets distracted easily and is very impulsive.  Percy also states “See bad things happen to me on field trips. Like at my fifth-grade school, when we went to the Saratoga battlefield, I had this accident with a Revolutionary Cannon.  This relates to the article when it says, “Symptoms often include losing items, not paying attention to details or making careless mistakes in school.” Additionally, ADHD impacts Percy and his choices because he does not pay attention to school and makes careless mistakes. An advice that I will give Percy is to go outdoors and move his body around. Another piece of advice from the article is that “They respond well to change – and to being asked for new ideas.” Therefore, Percy should tell his teacher to let him go outside and to be asked for new ideas. ADHD impacts Percy’s goof choices because he is very impulsive.

On the other hand, ADHD also impacts Percy’s Attitude toward school and his study habits. Percy says on Page 17 “My grades slipped from Ds to Fs” This shows that Percy does not have good study habits, additionally he also does not care about his grades. Also, on page 38 Percy says “What was so great about me? A dyslexic, hyperactive boy with a D+ report card, kicked out of school for the sixth time in six years” This also shows that Percy does not have a good attitude towards school, Percy is hyperactive because he has ADHD. However, the article How to Focus on studying by Kelly Roell Updated on June 24, 2019, says, “We’ve all struggled with poorly-timed distractions.” This shows that Percy is not the only one that has bad study habits and not the only one who has bad grades. My advice for Percy is to pick a good place and a good time to study. Another advice is to Review and Revise quiz, for example making your study quiz to study more. As a result, Percy’s attitude toward school is impacted by ADHD.

Thirdly, managing emotions also impacts Percy making good choices for himself and his community. For example, Percy says “Count to ten, get control of your temper. But I was so mad my mind went blank” This shows that Percy can’t control his temper. Another time when he could not control his emotions was on page 17 ” Finally, when our English teacher, Mr. Nicoll asked me for the millionth time why I was too lazy to study for spelling tests, I snapped I called him an old sot.” He should control himself when he is feeling cranky and irritable. For example, the article Recognizing and managing emotions states “Emotions are not consciously controlled.” This shows that Percy sometimes just can’t control his emotions. My advice to Percy is to make decisions with emotions, for example, the article states that “The best decisions are made using both logic and emotions.” Therefore, it is okay to have times that Percy feels angry, but he must use his logic as well before doing something. Nevertheless, Percy’s emotions impact both Percy and his community.

In conclusion, Percy’s life is impacted by ADHD, positive relationships, and managing his emotions. Nevertheless, Percy’s choices also impact Percy’s community his mom, Mr. Brunner, and Grover. As a result, Percy and his community are impacted by Percy’s Relationships, emotions, and his ADHD.

Humanities Project

Humanities Project

During this Humanities Project, something that went well is that the values and limitations were really easy to, it was also really easy to put on thinglink. Something that didn’t go well was that I couldn’t put my thinglink on to my blog it was really difficult. Something that I would change is that I would like a long time to complete this project because I felt like we were rushing everything.

Teach Reflection

My Teach Experience

Teach allowed me to work with fourth graders, second graders, and first graders, but first graders were definitely my favorite experience because they were really adorable, they usually listen to us, and the other teachers. I felt like the most challenging part was the second graders, they’re not that hygienic. Which is harder to work with.  I would really like to work with young kids in the future because that will help me to become a better teacher. It also helps me to understand how our teachers deal with us when we don’t do a problem correctly.  I don’t think I had any bad experience, everything was amazing. Except for that the second graders weren’t that hygienic.

Homo Sapiens

Infographic

Homo Sapiens, also known as the wise man, has a lot of capabilities the three main ones are tools, fire, and communication. The capability tools can help Homo Sapiens to make tools to better hunt animals and create fires. The second capability fire can help Homo Sapiens to keep warmth and cook meat. Cooked meat can help homo sapiens to have a bigger brain causing them to become smarter. The third capability communication helps Homo Sapiens to better communicate, which will help them hunt animals, they will also work better as a community.

Working with Little Kids (Teach)

This second quarter of the year my enrichment Teach. Working with little kids are really fun to work with, I also found out that some of the second graders don’t really listen because they’re really young. The second thing that I know is that the girls are quiet and the boys are loud. A thing that went well is that they really liked our game wink murder. One thing that I will improve is to only speak English since they actually know how to speak English. I will approach the kids with something that they can understand and I will introduce myself first.

I am from the pool,

The coldness and happiness, and tiredness

The tiredness during practice,

The proudness after you win.

I am from pens, pencils, and erasers,

Worries before each test.

Angry parents if you don’t do well,

But still trying my best.

I am from friends,

The people who make me laugh.

They give me ideas,

They help me to not get worried.

I am from homework,

Piles of them.

From school and tutor,

Never finishing them on time.

I am from parties,

Playing with all my friends.

Laughing and joking around,

Parties are the best part of life.

I am from golf,

The greens and holes.

Only practicing one time

A week.

I am from love,

From my parents.

And sisters,

Loving me.

Every single one sounds

Different.

But trying to learn them all.

I am from emotions,

Happiness and sadness.

Dirty Water to Clean Water?

During science class, we cleaned muddy water. The point was to make us design something that can clean water on a deserted island. My groupmates(Me, Sophia, and Renee,) designed it together. We used cotton balls, dirt, rocks, and cloth. Our design succeeded, but the water was still yellow. the procedure is that we put dirt on the cotton balls than we put cloth and put mesh underneath. The picture down below is our prototype.
