My introduction paragraph stated clearly what the essay was going to talk about and started off with an interesting hook. My body paragraphs also included details to specify the main points.

I’d like to improve the tone of the essay into a more formal kind.

l suppose that my concluding statement did retrace back to my main points, but could relate to the introductory paragraph more.

  1. What was the biggest challenge that you faced while researching, planning and writing this essay? How did you overcome this challenge?

My biggest challenges were quoting from articles and specifying who wrote it (the author). I overcame this challenge by asking questions and working more on it.

Percy Jackson Informational Blog

Percy Jackson is very loyal to his friends—but that is after he makes one. Percy is fanning away his friends by his actions and decisions. He can be quite cranky sometimes, that’s okay, but not always. Sometimes he just gets pissed off when others don’t know that he is angry, and that’s not the best way to create good relationships, which is vital to human, especially during his age.

From page 21-22, Mr. Brunner tried to help Percy deal with the fact that he has to leave school again, trying to tell him he’s not ‘normal’, but Percy Just walked away before his teacher finished. It is quite understandable at first because somebody telling you you’re not fit for a school and that you’re not normal might be irritating, but even so you can express your anger by telling him that. In page 23-24, Percy Jackson cuts in his friend Grover when Grover tried to explain Mrs. Dodds and his conversation with Mr. Brunner, he also said to him, “Why would I need you?”. That probably would have set Grover off if he were not his keeper. Also, in the first page of chapter 3, page 29, Percy ditched Grover once they got off the bus at the bus station. Grover made Percy promise he would wait for him while he goes to the bathroom, something Percy described Grover would do if he gets nervous. Percy knows Grover is nervous and desperately wanted to accompany him back to his home. Even so, Percy also got nervous and went home himself, without waiting for Grover. Grover could’ve gotten pretty angry at Percy, if not trying to protect him from monsters.

From the article Having good friends can improve our well-being, especially during the holidays and Why personal relationships are important, we can see how important it is to have friends all time, especially during the holidays. Percy made numerous decisions doing the opposite, fanning away his friends even though he was on holiday. From Why personal relationships are important, we can see how good relationships can benefit our wellbeing. A study of 148 people reveal that people with strong social relationships are 50% less likely to die prematurely. Another example is when The university of Chicago researchers studied a group of 229 adults over five years and found out that loneliness could predict higher blood pressure even years later, proving that loneliness have long term-effects. And he’s not exactly making good friends in his school. He cannot make good friends in his school if he was always cranky and doesn’t listen to others.

According to Having good friends can improve our well-being, especially during the holidays, Percy can try to invite his friends to some park or somewhere he feels comfortable inviting people to. Extending an invitation can help him extend relationships. Perhaps he can even offer some of his classmates that are just like him to do the Summer job with him. He can provide acts of kindness as gifts to others. He can perhaps help one of his classmates to do homework—if he can—or maybe help others with ancient Greek. When he is in a conflict with one of his close friends, he can try to respectfully express his feelings and let it go for a moment. He can also write a letter to his classmates (or friends), since it is most likely he doesn’t have a phone. And besides, letters work better! Through letters, we can express our feelings fully—through drawings and decorations that we couldn’t use in an online email or text message. To forge a relationship, he can ask intentional questions. For example asking a friend or classmate about their weekends and what they do, or their family traditions, or he could just plainly ask them for homework help.

In conclusion, Percy is sometimes cranky and ended up fanning away his friends, and that can result in terrifying consequences. But even so, he can try to find more friends by using a nicer attitude and reaching out to classmates and friends for help and carry out acts of kindness.

What Kind Of Person Is Percy Jackson?

In Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief, Percy Jackson is brave. From page 53 to 55, Percy Jackson fought the minotaur and ‘killed’ it. He somehow without fear faced the minotaur without running away screaming. He used his knowledge and faced something he has never met and saved the unconscious Grover and carried him all over to Camp Half-blood while he himself was hurt badly. Also, he fought and killed Mrs. Dodds from page 12-13 with a sword. Based on these actions one can infer that Percy is brave because it isn’t common for a 12-years-old to fight a giant bull man ten times his size and fight off a flying lady without any battle training. If Nancy Bobofit was in this kind of situation, she wouldn’t have reacted in the same way as Percy did. Percy has never faced any monsters before Mrs. Dodds, and even though it was his first time, he reacted quickly to the predicament. He never used a sword (except during tournament day) and even so he tried to use it with only his courage backing him up when fighting Mrs. Dodds.

 

 

 

Board game challenge

How The Game Works:

The game needs a dice and two figures (provided in the game), and in order to play it, you roll the dice, and move forward x steps (x= number on the dice rolled). There are setbacks and boosts in the game to add excitement.

Science: Forest habitat

My biggest take away from 6th grade science is that I learned new things such as how biodiversity works, how symbiosis works, how heat conducting works, how heat transforms, and things like sublimation and etc.

What I would like to work on for next year in science is how the different habitat functions, with climate changes and more types of plants and more hybrids and etc. Next year I would also like to learn more about climate changes, about how human activities has changed the planet and how to make the planet better.

Our Stories Make History final project

During the unit of “Our Stories Make History”, we have crated projects that summarizes our life during the Coronavirus period. I created numerous projects such as the six word memoir or the Make or Perform project.
I organized my final project by adding all the past projects based on the Coronavirus together.
They will learn of the time period during a global pandemic and how people felt during the time of the outbreak just like the diary of Anne Frank.
I think what went really well is the six-word memoir and the make or perform project though I prefer the six word memoir because it’s short by it’s meaningful. I am proud of how I managed to finish all my assignments and do well in my assignments of the ‘Our Stories make History’ unit.
I think it is really challenging to keep up with all the work and assignments. I think it is very hard to finish the homework during not only this unit, but the whole eLearning experience.

below is my final project for ‘Our Stories Make History’, which is a mixture of all the past projects I’ve done in this unit.

Science Cup Insulator design

how it works:

my up has a magnet on the side for connection where there is a handle. after you untied the magnet ‘thing’, it will be easy to pull off. The cap is just a normal cap just there is a velcro to connect the cap and the cup insulator together. The outside layer is just fur and buttons for decoration.

what am I proud of:

I am proud of how our group got to work together and create such an amazing insulator. I am proud of how we actually made it something that we might buy in a store, and how the cup can keep heat in and at the same time be beautiful.

what was the hardest thing about this project:

The hardest part is when we had to cut the fur and trying to connect the fur together so it will wrap around the cup. measuring the cup is one thing, but cutting it and thinking of how we will connect the fur together needs some time. We first thought of sewing it together, but since no one in our group can really sew, we just settled on the idea of hot gluing it.

The quality of our cup insulator:

Our cup insular could be something we can buy in a store.  It is easy to take off and I would says it looks pretty nice. The foil and felt inside would not easy break. Overall, I think the quality of our cup insulator is pretty good.

Crocodile Basketball Arcade

 

Skills that I learned or developed are the ability to make right decisions. Because our first arcade ( the crocodile arcade ) took to much time, so I decided that it is time to change an arcade. And the new arcade ( the crocodile basketball arcade ) did work well.

If I did this again, one thing I would do differently is  to not to focus on arcades or games that are too hard to make or takes up too much time. We didn’t follow  our plan or even our backup plan.

One piece of advice I would give a future student doing this project is try not to focus on games that are too hard to make, and don’t be too precise, because there is a limited amount of time to make this arcade.

My biggest success was putting the crocodile mouths in our old arcade into our new arcade, I think it did turn out well on our two arcades.

Overall, I think this product was successful because I think our arcades is fun, and  is not easy to get bored of.

My biggest obstacle was on the old arcade. It is very complicated, especially making the crocodile mouths and the wheels in it.
