This is my prototype, it works by the antenna taking in the scented air and processing it then sends that information to the processing board that processes the direction where the smell is coming from and what it might be. It then sends all that to the screen to display an arrow that points towards the smell location and what it might be.
In product design, we made a lightbox that represented a place we wanted to go or had an emotional attachment to. I chose Singapore because it was where I was born and 3 of my close family members are in Singapore currently. I learned a lot about how to use adobe illustrator, creating shapes I can use and how to group shapes together to alter them easier. I also learned about how to apply paint to the wood without making it too thick and how to recover when something goes wrong with the painting and the cutting.
Something I would want to improve on and change is the placement. When I added the merlion piece in, I strugged to put it in because I used hot glue to stick the pieces and the hot glue was already cooling down so when I put it in I couldnt adjust it anymore, I would also want to improve on checking mesurements before it gets cut out because I had 2 failed cuts I could not use because they were too big. In chapter 1-3 ADHD and personal relationships impacts Percy a lot, both have different impacts on Percy, like how ADHD impacts Percy’s grades to drop and makes him more prone to blurting, and personal relationships impact him by making him feel better around people he cares about and also lets him be less worried when the person he looks up to is leading an event he is participating in.
ADHD impacts Percy badly because he is more prone to blurting out loud and not concentrating in class. He could improve his behavior by being in a more stimulating environment.
“will you shut up!?!?!?!” and “symptoms include… and blurting out answers in class.” Are linked because, in the book, he told Nancy off louder than he intended and, in the article, it says ADHD might impact how someone reacts and their choices. It says ADHD might make someone more impulsive which may lead to them blurting out. ADHD also impacts Percy in other ways. “my grades slipped from D’s to F’s.” and “symptoms include… not paying attention to details or making careless mistakes in school and not listening most of the time.” Are linked because since he has ADHD, he has trouble focusing. Thus, making his grades fall. This is because ADHD impacts Percy’s ability to focus in most of his classes and making it harder for him to do better in class. Percy could improve faster if he was in a stimulating environment though. According to the article, people with ADHD also do their best in a stimulating environment, so Percy could ask his teacher to let him work in a more stimulating environment like outside. Thus, ADHD impacts Percy badly because he is more prone to blurting out loud and not concentrating in class. He could improve his behavior by being in a more stimulating environment like outside.
Positive relationships also impact Percy because it helps him recover from his stressful year and help his health and well-being.
“My mother can make me feel good just by walking into the room.” And “researchers found that people who completed a stressful task experienced a faster recovery when they were reminded of people whom they had strong relationships.” (University of Minnesota) Are linked because in the book, he goes to her house to see her again and it’s also helps him recover from his school year. “But Mr. Brunner, our Latin teacher was leading this, so I had high hopes.” And “healthy relationships are a vital component of health and wellbeing.” (University of Minnesota) Are linked because Mr. Brunner being the teacher leading helps his state of mind and lets him be less worried and Percy also really likes Mr. Brunner which improves his well-being more.

What is your biggest take away from 6th-grade science?
That science is complicated but as long as you do your best you usually get a good result.

ill most likely put a bad grade because I don’t like being given attention sometimes and ill most likely say it went down. i feel more confident in making models in science, analyzing data, and constructing scientific explanations but im not sure how much more confident but it was defiantly better than before.
What would you like to work on for next year in science?
How poisons work and what kinds are safe for humans, what kills them fast, what kills them slowly and what would cause enough damage to make people worried but not be so dangerous it would kill them.
A one or two-sentence summary of the unit, “Our Stories Make History,” and the project you created.
Explain how you organized your project and why.
Our stories make history is when we take our experiences in the pandemic so far and put them into a collective “story”. My project is how I handled it and to be honest, I don’t think I handled it well. it was hard with the new environment and my bad time management but I think its better now. I organized my project in a way where it starts with some information and a tutorial, makes you think it’s just a random thing, then throws you, your belongings, and your grades under the bus and makes you realize how much harder this online learning thing is than you expected.
How might this primary source be useful to a historian, or even future 6th graders, in the future? What might they learn about/from your experience?
it might be helpful because we are kids, and even though we are in 6th grade, kids are usually brutally honest when it comes to things we don’t really like. and sometimes historians need to find a source that is honest about how they feel about the situation and how it went for the person who had that experience. They might learn that its important to stay safe and be careful while also be social because being stuck in the house for too long is quite boring and if a pandemic happens again, they can find ways to entertain themselves by reading what we did to keep ourselves from dying of boredom.
What do you think went well for you in this unit? (What are you most proud of?)
I think what went well was the 6-word memoir because it was the most obvious one for me. there is an internet meme of a dog sitting at a table with a cup and the house they are in is burning and the dog says “This is fine.” and that is basically how I feel about this situation. Everything is going to H*** and all you can really do is sit there and watch because you’ve gone so far into it its just best to watch it all burndown.
What did you find challenging within this unit?
Staying positive. it was hard because I don’t get to talk to my friends very much anymore. This unit was especially hard because it’s not something I’m very interested in or experienced in. I’m good with history because I read a lot of history books but I don’t read books about how to survive not talking to your friends very much because I did not think I would have to use it. But here we are.
