Insulator Challenge

Have you ever realised that teachers drink about five cups of coffee a day? They have a problem, it cools down to fastSo they got us to make a state-of-the-art insulator

First we drew a model of what hoped the finished product would look like. Then we made a paper prototype. Then we made and tested our final product.

We thought that the lid would be the main factor because heat rises so we made a lid and a body for good measureWe were right because our cup lost about three degrees every five minutes.

Grade 4 cardboard arcade.

Our biggest obstacle was the slingshots. Before deciding on the simple ping-pong structure in the photo above, we tested out 4 or 5 different designs. All the designs had at least one problem with them.

Skills that I have learned are how to properly use a box cutter and glue gun. The most helpful one I learned is  how to tear tape which is insanely hard without scissors.

Our biggest success was how many people played our game. We were stressing about not being noticed by the fourth grades  because our game was somewhat lacking in color and size. We decided to attract attention in a different way, by making lots and lots of noise.

Welcome to Your New Blog!

When you blog you create posts and posts are categorised according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you. If you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category.
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This can include text, images, embedded videos from Dragons’ Tube or elsewhere. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
