TANYA CROSSMAN: PARENTING YOUR CROSS-CULTURAL CHILD

September 16, 8:30 am, MPR

Our ISB students move between cultures every day, as they navigate our ISB international school culture, their home culture, and the Chinese culture of our Beijing context. This session explores what it means to grow up cross-culturally, how these childhood experiences affect and shape a developing mind, and ways that parents can better understand and support these young people.

Tanya Crossman is an internationally recognized expert and speaker on Third Culture Kids and issues facing cross-cultural families. She is the author of Misunderstood: The Impact of Growing Up Overseas in the 21st Century, which articulates the experiences of young people growing up cross-culturally. Tanya is passionate about coming alongside cross-cultural families with information, encouragement, and support. Tanya lived in China for over ten years from 2004-2014 and recently returned to Beijing.

We hope to see you soon!

Important Update: UES Back to School Night

Dear Parents,

The date for the UES Back to School Night (BTSN) has been changed to Wednesday, September 11; the time remains the same from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.  Back to School Night will not be on September 12 as published in previous messages.  We recognize that families may be traveling on Thursday due to the Mid-Autumn Festival and want to make sure that we have as many parents as possible attending BTSN to learn about our programs and meet the teachers.

We hope this change benefits families and does not pose an inconvenience.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend on Wednesday, September 11 from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.

Sincerely,

ES Leadership Team

Welcome Back to School

Dear Parents,

We hope your child enjoyed the first day as much as we did. It was great to have the campus filled with young scholars, eager to learn and grow. Having our student body returned breathed life and energy back into us all.

As a reminder, beginning tomorrow only scholars will be able to enter campus through the OLE gate. Parents accompanying their child to school must have their campus ID and enter through the Main Entrance.

Also, regarding parent pick-up, PK3, PK4 and Kindergarten will be picked up in their rooms. Grade 1 will be picked up in the ES Cafeteria and Grade 2 – Grade 5 will be picked up in Gym 1.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation, we look forward to collaborating with you all year.

Sincerely,

ES Leadership Team
