Tuesday November 21st at 8:30 in the theater all 5th grade classes will present.
We are Global Performers!
In collaboration with the 5th grade unit Global Citizenship, the performing arts classes have been traveling the world and discussing how understanding the arts can make us better global citizens.
Come enjoy as we travel to England, Taiwan, Ecuador, Greece, Georgia Sea Islands, and Zimbabwe. Listen as classes combine improvisation and original compositions with traditional folk songs. 3 part choral and spoken pieces will have you humming along and 2 very different dances with give you some extra lift to get your feet moving for the rest of the day.
Starting this Thursday, Middle School students will perform “Not a Box”, an original theater collaboration created by MS drama students, visiting global artists, a group of ISB teachers, and Hannah Northcott, the artistic director. The starting point for this show was the inquiry, “What’s in a box?” Three groups were formed (drama, dance and design) to explore this question. Together, they created a show that features the themes, moods, thoughts and emotions that are relevant in the middle school years.
Theatergoers will also be able to see a related art exhibit called “Box World”. All the art pieces in the exhibition were created from boxes found at ISB.
